Saw it yesterday. Thought it was very good. Especially in IMAX. Very exciting. Great action, effects and solid story of the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster.
Looks like Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg work well together. Their next film I believe is called Patriots Day and is about the Boston Marathon bombing.
I'm not sure that I'd want to watch a movie on that particular topic.
Then again, I felt the same about 9/11 and I've seen all three of those films. In fact, I thought United 93 was absolutely brilliant. (Not sure I could watch it again, though.)
I felt the same way but went and saw it last week anyway, and I'm glad I did.
One thing that helped was that the movie focuses on an aspect of the tragedy that was largely ignored by the media: What happened on the rig leading up to and including the explosion. At least to my memory, very little was reported on that at the time, the media reports I recall from summer 2010 were almost entirely about the resulting oil spill and environmental disaster, not much about the men who died.
