CRITERION FLASH SALE Starting FEBRUARY 23, 2021 Noon ET for 24 HRS

A couple people report getting emails about the Flash Sale starting tomorrow. I've not gotten an email yet, but it seems strong enough evidence if 2 or 3 different people have now received notice. If not the mods can delete or lock the thread until later.

If the Sale follows the usual and normal rules (if not I'll update the post ASAP):

50% off MSRP (not current/Usual price) all in-stock movies -- DVD, BD, Includes Eclipse set, but not general merchandise. Backorders and pre-orders usually haven't been allowed. Items will go OOS so don't wait too long though the last few sales, many things did come back into stock at least once if not several times during the sale.
The website usually gets hammered in the first couple hrs so be patient.

Free Shipping at $50 in the Lower 48 US otherwise $6.95 flat rate shipping USPS or $8.95 UPS
Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, PO Box, APO/FPO USPS PRIORITY MAIL
FREE SHIPPING has always been calculated before applying any promo rewards or Gift Certificates are deducted. I think it's also pre-tax so 49.97 + tax isn't free.

No International orders other than Canada. The last few sales, a CA site obstructedviews.com has run a parallel sale of 40-50% off items with lower shipping costs and shipped from within
the borders so faster and no worries about extra customs fees.
DHL Express $23USD Flat Rate
Customs and Brokerage fees added by Delivery Service/Collected at Delivery and are the responsibility of the customer

Sales Tax has been expanded and now required for Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin.

Criterion Loyalty program -- $50Gift Cert for every cumulative purchase of $500 even if it takes 5 years. In the past those loyal rewards certs are sent via email almost immediately and are eligible for immediate use.
If you are close to $500 and have enough total items, I'd suggest making an order just big enough to qualify for the Loyalty Cert plus FS, then make another $50+ order with the extra money rather than make one large order and then have to wait 6 months for the next flash sale though the GC/Rewards don't expire. You can load them into your account and the $$$ will be there next sale. If you have more than one Reward Code ($50 or $10 Criterion Stream reward or others), these do appear to stack since they function essentially like Gift Cards.

All items MSRP $39.99 unless otherwise listed

I (nearly) screwed up. I had my 13 item cart ready and CC information loaded at 11:55 and all I had to do was click checkout as soon as the prices flipped -- would have been done and finished in 30 seconds like the last 2 sales. Then the phone rang and I got distracted until 12:01 and sure enough entered APPLICATION ERROR HELL.

The next 10 minutes must have been like the Mars Rover Landing madly clicking and holding my breath hoping it would eventually go through safely (and only once) and with all items in stock. I got to the Payment screen 3 times and even the Review order once before being kicked out and having to restart.

I think I finally was able to make it to the end after 15 minutes. It's like missing the Pre-Rush Hours Window on the Atlanta Interstate by 15 minutes and ending up slowed down by and hour and half

Criterion's website during one of their flash sales is as painfully slow as some of the films they release.

For the Canadians -- there is an Obstructed View 45% off sale somewhat underway. It sounds like there is a queue to get into the sale (over 700 at last message) and the stock is spotty at best.

I also did get the FLASH SALE EMAIL -- at 12:20pm ET.

Surprisingly I did get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION which doesn't always happen this quickly on Sale Day.

I got Rolling Thunder Review, Detour and Now Voyager. $59.97 less Criterion Channel $10 certificate made it $49.97 with free shipping. I'm satisfied.

I'm on the mailing list but didn't receive the email.

Are the people that received the e-mails subscribers to the Criterion Channel ?

If you use the Wish List function - double-check your order to make sure you haven't ordered more than one of the same item.

The cart was not updating so I pressed enter several times as the browser was not showing it communicating with Criterion.com

UPDATE: I did finally get the email. I'm showing it processed at 10:20 MST. I had checked my email for confirmation of the first order and the email wasn't there - the confirmation was. I suspect the mail provider was determining if it was SPAM before sending it through.

I'm not sure why some got their email early, but that seems like it always happened even long before the Streaming Service started. It's one of the reasons I always monitor certain days when the sale is most likely to happen.

I'm not a subscriber to the Channel and got my email late. I did wonder is the subscribers got a heads up, but it sounds like several people who do subscribe didn't get the email notification either

I just placed my order. Site was moving quickly.

Picked up Moonstruck, The Irishman, and Brief Encounter (finally upgrading my DVD) for $60.

Thank for all your due diligence on this David. Always appreciated.

This is the email I received yesterday:

Dear Criterion Collectors,

It’s that time again!

Because you’re a loyal Criterion.com shopper we wanted to give you a heads up that our 24-hour flash sale starts tomorrow, Tuesday, February 23 at noon ET!

All currently in-stock Blu-rays and DVDs will be marked down to 50% off the suggested retail price (SRP). Please note, the discount doesn’t apply to titles on preorder that aren’t yet released or out of stock titles that are on back-order.

Start building your Wish List now and set a reminder to shop at noon ET tomorrow!

Enjoy,
The Criterion Team

When I placed my order a few minutes after the sale went live, I was able to include a $10 gift certificate and a $50 reward certificate. It was like getting 3 free BDs!

I'm passing on this particular sale as there is only one BD title that I really want in my disc collection. Maybe, next time.

I decided to pass on the sale, too. I had three titles in my wish list, but decided to wait until the next sale so I can include Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I have received all of the items I ordered (except the Agnes Varda set which has to come UPS -according to tracking it won't be delivered until Tuesday, USPS said two orders wouldn't be delivered until Monday but I received the second batch today). The Buñuel set came yesterday by USPS.

Note: the return address now says ALLIANCE ENTERTAINMENT, LLC and not Criterion on the USPS label.

Interesting -- My UPS package still says Criterion Collection though the 300 Omicron Ct address is the same Shepherdsville, KY ALLIANCE WAREHOUSE address as it's been for awhile
