CRITERION FLASH SALE Starting MARCH 8, 2022 Noon ET for 24 HRS

I'll start the thread based on a couple people getting reports. I haven't gotten an email (yet) so I'm going on faith

If the Sale follows the usual and normal rules (if not I'll update the post ASAP):

50% off MSRP (not current/Usual price) all in-stock movies -- DVD, BD, Includes Eclipse set, but not general merchandise. Backorders and pre-orders usually haven't been allowed. Items will go OOS so don't wait too long though the last few sales, many things did come back into stock at least once if not several times during the sale.
The website usually gets hammered in the first couple hrs so be patient. You can preload your cart and the prices will automatically adjust after the sale goes live, but if you load it too early Criterion will empty it -- never sure if they do it by time of day or number of hrs, but I usually load my cart an hour or two ahead and it works fine. Items and esp new popular item WILL go OOS during the sale. Sometimes they'll come back into stock during the time-frame, but never is a guarantee

Free Shipping at $50 in the Lower 48 US otherwise $6.95 flat rate shipping USPS or $10.95 UPS
Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, PO Box, APO/FPO USPS PRIORITY MAIL ONLY
FREE SHIPPING has always been calculated before applying any promo rewards or Gift Certificates are deducted. I think it's also pre-tax so 49.97 + tax isn't free.

No International orders other than Canada. The last few sales, a CA site obstructedviews.com has run a parallel sale of 40-50% off items with lower shipping costs and shipped from within
the borders so faster and no worries about extra customs fees.
DHL Express $23USD Flat Rate
Customs and Brokerage fees added by Delivery Service/Collected at Delivery and are the responsibility of the customer

Sales Tax has been expanded and now required for Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin (states in green are newly added since my last Flash sale thread)

Criterion Loyalty program -- $50 Gift Cert for every cumulative purchase of $500 even if it takes 5 years. In the past those loyal rewards certs are sent via email almost immediately and are eligible for immediate use.
If you are close to $500 and have enough total items, I'd suggest making an order just big enough to qualify for the Loyalty Cert plus FS, then make another $50+ order with the extra money rather than make one large order and then have to wait 6 months for the next flash sale though the GC/Rewards don't expire. You can load them into your account and the $$$ will be there next sale. If you have more than one Reward Code ($50 or $10 Criterion Stream reward or others), these do appear to stack since they function essentially like Gift Cards.

Items released since last Criterion.com Flash Sale in Oct MSRP $40 unless stated otherwise (4K titles in Red)

I'll be in for Love Affair.

And while I shouldn't, I might end up pulling the trigger on the 4k Mulholland Dr.

Wild Card: this item was announced then pulled due to an issue. A couple people are now reporting getting their replacement/corrected discs so I'm HOPING it may open for orders by tomorrow -- currently listed unavailable
A Hard Day's Night 4K Blu-ray71551526721218-Jan-2022$50

Just noticed Hard Day's Night 4K is available to order now. My wishlist was still showing Unavailable, but the item page should it active and can be added to my Cart.

They cleared my cart sometime overnight so had to reload it from my Wishlist anyway so adding 1 more item as a pleasure this time

I'll be in for Love Affair.

And while I shouldn't, I might end up pulling the trigger on the 4k Mulholland Dr.

If those are the only 2 you're ordering then you need to factor in the Shipping cost. Often I find Amazon, DD, Target B2G1 sales work better prices if you can't hit the $50 FS limit.

Sometimes it's still close and Now can be an advantage.

Ordered the 13 titles I needed to complete my collection. No hitches. Used my 3 $10 coupons.

I was going to place an order, but decided instead to pass of this sale. The only item in my wish list that I felt compelled to get right now was the 4K of A Hard Day's Night. I have Double Indemnity and The Last Waltz on the wish list, too, but both are pre-orders and not eligible for the sale. I'll just wait for the next Barnes and Noble or Flash sale, as a single item order will not qualify for free shipping.

I pre-loaded my cart and had no issues with website performance when placing my order this time. Snagged Heavens Gate, Mulholland Drive 4K, and a Criterion t-shirt for $59 shipped after two stackable $10 coupons.

I might pass Three ... There aren't any sets that I don't already have and I 've been able to get most of the items on David's (thank-you David) lists via B&N 50% off,Target B2G1 and Amazon pricematches.

Thanks, David. I hadn't done the simple math and realized I would fall just shy of the $50 threshold for free shipping.

I am now waiting to see if Amazon price-matches this sale. But they haven't yet and I am doubtful.

I've never known them to PM the Flash Sale. The BN sale, yes, Target B2G1 -- for the most part, but not this direct sale.

So I did what any respectable HTF member would do.

I added a third title;

Love Affair (Blu)
Mulholland Dr. (4k)
The Piano (4k)

:D

At the very last minute, I ended up going w/ The Piano (4K), Love Affair (BD) and Boat People (BD) myself...

I might've gone for Mulholland Dr (4K) or maybe The Red Shoes (4K) or even Citizens Kane (4K) probably instead of Love Affair (BD), but at least for now, the prior BD releases of those others should be good enough for me whereas The Piano (4K) should be a substantial upgrade over the old, barebones, unrestored, lower bitrate BD...

Also might've gone for The Celebration (BD) as another blindbuy, but I see it's currently streamable on the Criterion Channel and Target has it for ~$25, which makes it a better choice for their frequently recurring B2G1 sale (or Amazon's potentially kludgy PM of that sale)...

Went for Boat People, w/ which I also wasn't familiar at all (though it's also streamable on the CC), partly to encourage Criterion, et al to release more from Hong Kong cinema, especially Ann Hui's films, which don't seem to get much, if any, notice here in the USA... Would love for them or maybe Arrow or Kino (or even Eureka in the UK) to eventually acquire and release Ann Hui's Song of the Exile and 2-part adaptation of Jin Yong's Romance of the Book and Sword for instance... Along that line, would've gone for that Once Upon a Time in China BD boxset if I didn't already import the Eureka version from the UK a few years ago...

Also, realized last minute that I actually had 3x $10 GCs (not just 2x as I thought) -- they apparently sent me another one back in Dec (after the last flash sale, instead of before), and I just overlooked it until I went searching my emails to place this order, LOL... :D:cool:
