How do I connect my tv & receiver in order to be able to watch my local antenna channels & hear the sound thru the tv (news & late at night) but still have the option to listen to the local channels through the ht setup?

I believe that you could connect the audio outputs of your tv to the audio inputs of your receiver and still get sound emanating from the tv's own speakers.

When you choose to listen to the tv through your home theatre setup, you'd probably get 'doubled' sound from the tv as well as your home theatre. If you don't like this doubling, your tv should have an option to switch off its speakers.

That's what I do so I don't have to turn on a receiver just to watch the news. Just press mute when you want to listen through your separate speakers.
