I have the opportunity to purchase a bunch of early Chaplin films on Koch Vision DVDs. There are two 3-disc sets out entitled "Early Masterpieces" and "The Artist in his Prime".
    I have two questions:
    1) What is the quality of the film/DVD transfer?
    2) The box states "New music and effects added". What effects are added, and is the original soundtrack still included on the DVD?
    Thanks for your help!

    Matt,
By buying the Koch box sets you will be supporting thieves. Though I'm no expert on this, I have followed threads about this on the HTF and also alt.movies.silent. The transfers on these discs are lifted from other editions. Here is what David Shepard, who produces a LOT of silent DVDs for Image, had to say about it on the newsgroup.
