I am dying for a DVD with some good old nostalgic TV commercials from the 50s, 60s and 70s. There are several out there I know, but which would you all recommend? I know quality is an issue for some of you, but I really don't care how bad they look, I just want to relive old classics like "Speedy Alka-Seltzer-Plop Plop Fizz Fizz", "Coca Cola - It's the real thing", "Dr. Pepper - I'm a pepper, you're a pepper", and other catchy commercial tunes I grew up to and have whistled on and off for the past 40 yrs. Can someone suggest any good TV commercial DVDs to get me started?

THE '70's DIMENSION from Other Cinema is a good starting point. It's a bit spotty, and not completely all '70's material -- there appear to be some B&W '60's spots -- or even all commercials -- there are short PSA-style segments as well. Reportedly, it was assembled from 16mm material found in a TV station dumpster. But it's quite entertaining. Among the highlights:

ABC promo spots for the preem of STARSKY AND HUTCH;
A hair dryer spot featuring Farrah Fawcett;
Magnavox ads bordering on furniture porn;
And of course, Iron Eyes Cody's anti-littering ad.
