Film Synopsis

Things go hilariously awry when Barney, a socially awkward middle-schooler, receives a malfunctioning, digitally connected device that’s supposed to be his “best friend out of the box.” In this action-packed animated story set against the backdrop of the social media age, a boy and his robot discover the wonderful messiness of true friendship.

The digital release is after the physical media release? Even though the physical release will have a digital code? That's unusual. How would purchasers be able to redeem their digital codes if the digital version isn't out yet?

This looks okay. I might watch it at some point if I'm looking to kill some time once it pops up in a subscription I already have.

This looks okay. I might watch it at some point if I'm looking to kill some time once it pops up in a subscription I already have.
There is even a sticker on the box that says the digital code is not valid until 12/15 (which is a Wednesday, the same day it will debut on Disney+ and HBO Max).
