Rich, you admitted you've never heard 811s but would still be shock ed if compares it to others within the $500 price range.Since it can't be your own experience - for you've never heard it - then what exactly will give you such a shock when it comes to comparing 811s to others? Pioneer's 'bad'reputation in the past(does it really have a bad reputation)? Or one of your friends who owns one has had a bad experence with it?

Not talking about it's rep at all! But since Sean has a budget of $500, the issue is whether it's as good as the more expensive receivers discussed here. If a $300 receiver can perform as well as a $500 one, then that's a great recommendation. If not, then Sean can do better within his budget.
