Ok am I dreaming or am I to understand that the new ATI Radeon 8500/DV will be able to output 1920x1080 resolution to a HDTV when they release there DVI to Component converter. ATI lists one of the screen resolutions of 1920x1080 on there website. Also the following was taken from there FAQ?
Q10: Is component output enabled with the initial shipment? When is it available? How do I get component output?
A10: No, component output will not be available with the initial shipment of the ALL-IN-WONDER® RADEON™ 8500. It will be available in 2002. You will be able to purchase an upgrade package from ATI with an adapter to connect your graphics card to your HDTV through YPbPr.
Q11: What modes will the component output support?
A11: The component output will support HDTV 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i. For DVD and Macrovision protected material ATI will support 480i and 480p. The ALL-IN-WONDER® RADEON™ 8500 supports both Interlaced and progressive scan HDTV.

I dont believe it will but I could be wrong. The card probiably has to have the correct drivers to output the corect signal to the DVI interface. Yeah I know that ti will only do 480p for DVD but my primary use for hooking the computer to the TV will be for gameing and the occational websurfing. Currently the maximum you can output to a TV with the AIW is 1024x768 but its then dowconverted to NTSC. :frowning: Output at 1920x1080 would kick ass, but seems to good to be true.
