I'm just curious because I would like to build an enclosure for the Peerless 5 1/4" speakers in my car door and there isn't anyway I could get wood in there. I figured the fiberglass enclosure would be a much better choice as I could make it the exact shape and size I want. Free air just doesn't work for those speakers!

Any info?

Thanks in advance!

You should do a search on car audio boards. I believe you could build up size w/ some form of foam at home depot.

You need to build a wooden frame, then stretch an old t-shirt around the wood frame. Paint the t-shirt fibreglass resin, then build up with a couple layers of fibeglass mat. I then like to add long strand fibreglass bondo to the inside to build up to about 3/4" thick. Very dead enclosure!
I did the kickpanels in my car this way and took first place in a Sound Quality competition.
Check my website for pics of the finished kicks.
