I was just wondering if any of these titles are slated for a Special Edition release(with anamorphic transfer) anytime soon:

-Crimson Tide
-Con Air
-Enemy of the State
-GoodFellas
-Heat
-True Lies
-Batman(1989)
-Casino
-Face Off
-Armageddon(the Criterion release has nice extras, but no anamorphic transfer)

Anybody have some insider information on any of these titles?

I could have sworn I read something about new releases of GoodFellas and Heat over at DVDFile. But I'm not sure.
Batman has been rumored for a long time, I would expect a new release to tie in with the next Batfilm.

If I see anything else, I'll pass it along...

SEs of Heat and Goodfellas were announced in Region 2. According to the announcemnet, Heat will be released in July and Goodfellas in September along with other Scorsese titles. Hopefully this means they'll be announced in Region 1 too.

Face Off does feature a 16x9 transfer (assuming that is one of the primary considerations), but given that Paramount has only revisited a few titles ( the Jack Ryan films come to mind ); I wouldn't hold my breath for an SE.

A few of those titles I mentioned are anamorphic(Batman, Face/Off, Casino and Heat), but they really look bad now when you watch them and I'm hoping most if not all get a better treatment. I'm not holding my breath for a Face Off SE, but most of those other films are pretty big blockbusters and would surely sell a lot of copies if new versions were released. I know I'd buy all of them.:emoji_thumbsup:

Hmmm... I specifically mentioned Face Off because I thought it still held up reasonably well, whereas I agree that the others could use some improvement. Maybe I need to watch it again? :)

Enemy of the State and Crimson Tide have been re-released in R2 with a few extras and anamorphic transfers. No reason they shouldn't make it to R1 soon.

I recently got to speak to someone closely involved with the production of Face-Off and he said that despite their attempts to convince Paramount an SE would be advisable, there hasn't been much interest of late. If they ever do one, it sounds like the people behind the film have lots of ideas and enthusiasm for it. Cross your fingers.

John Woo's "Paycheck" had a pretty strong opening (the film's not bad either). Paramount is distributing that film, so a John Woo two pack may not be an impossibility. "Paycheck" will be a DreamWorks DVD though, so it will at least have a nice transfer and DTS.

I would re-purchase most of the movies on your list - they certainly need new transfers. Casino isn't too bad really.

I really want new Anamorphic Transfers of the above. Also of the ones not previously mentioned below:

Deep Impact
Titanic
Top Gun
American President
Mrs. Doubtfire

I agree with new transfers on all the above titles. A few that I would like to see with new transfers are:

Ghost and the Darkness
Good Morning Vietnam
Sling Blade
Dead Poets Society

Just my $.02:)

Don't snicker, but I'd buy a Con Air SE. :)

I'd also flip for a 2-discer of:

Raising Arizona
Dazed and Confused
A Fish Called Wanda
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Fletch
The Road Warrior
Ruthless People
Scrooged
Stripes
