Is there any news on the release of this Beach Boys title. I know that it was delayed once.

This disc is going to be absolutely loaded. Hi-res mono, stereo, and surround tracks, along with a decent amount of extras. This is actually supposed to be a two sided disc with audio on one side and bonus material on the second side including (from audioworld here)

The new DVD includes the original 13 tracks plus seven bonus tracks, sessionography, track-by-track notes, liner notes by noted Beach Boys author David Leaf, discography, and photo galleries along with a Pet Sounds promo film (featuring three songs from the album).

How they remixed Pet Sounds into 5.1 dvd-audio form.

Linett says that his approach to the 5.1 mix was to “make it more of a surround experience as opposed to a front plane with ambience. You really try to surround the listener as opposed to just adding some tricks and some reverb.

Whew. Seems like this is not just going to be a blah-sounding "ambience" mix then.
