My friend and I are looking to make a speaker system out of our school bags. The specs of the speaker we are using is listed below. We are planning to hook up something like this...
POTRABLE DISCMAN + ONE OF THOSE BIG 6V Batteries
/
TO A LIGHT DIMMER FOR AMOUNT OF AMPS GOING THROUGH (VOLUME)
/
TO A FULL RANGE SPEAKER (Specs below)
• Power Handling: 20W RMS/40W Maximum
• Size: 4"
• Frequency Range (Hz): 80Hz-20 kHz
• Cone Material: Paper cone with foam edge
• Impedance: 8W
• Voice Magnet Weight: 5.3 oz.
• Speaker Weight: 15.9 oz.
• SPL(1M/1W): 88 dB
• Dimension: 1•7/8 X 4 X 4"
The portable discman is running on its own power supply. We are planning to power these speakers by hooking the speaker wire (from discman) and power from battery to one end of light dimmer and speaker hooked up to other end.
Are we crazy? maybe haha... Are we gonna start a fire or something? can you tell us whats wrong? :D
