film is outrageous! I wasn't expecting much -- but do
yourself a favor and just watch the first 10 minutes of the film
right from the opening credits (that's all the time I had), and you'll
find yourself smiling from ear to ear. Whoever put this feature
together did a very clever job in assembling little "pop-ups" with
goofy sayings and accompanied sound effects (complete with
on-set supplements) that will have kids and their parents chuckling
their way throughout the movie. It's not your ordinary picture-in-picture
experience, but a rather unique and finely crafted piece of added
value that certainly took me by surprise. This is the sort of thing
that really sells HD-DVD to the public, as you could never
get this sort of interactivity with the standard DVD format.

Do go out and treat yourself to this title!

GREAT too see you 'reviewing' again, Ron!
It's almost like the good old SD DVD days.
Glad you enjoyed one "chocolate" experience.
Were any other reviews comments on the PQ of WW&TCF helpful to you?

While I have had the opportunity to view Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and totally agree with your assessment of the quality of this release, I am very disappointed to hear about the quality of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory which, IMHO, is the better film, even if not as faithful to the book.:frowning:

I was very much looking forward to this HD-DVD.

Gents,

Appreciate the kind words, but I am not back to being
a reviewer for this forum.

Just a few thoughts now and then when I see something
I like (or don't).

As for screenshots? Not until I have a computer with a
drive that supports HD-DVD. No other way to do it.

only thing about the pop up in movie stuff is the light bulb shape was too big and covered too much of the movie

I finally got a chance to watch this last night. Gentlemen, this is the type of movie HD-DVD was meant for. The colors and detail are so rich, it's like nothing I've seen before. The difference between the SD and HD-DVD versions are quite astounding.
