I am going to have to run a 5 metre scart cable from my tv to my dvd player (toshiba-sd210e).

AM I going to suffer greatly with performance?

Can anyone recommend a decent cable? (Not extortionate).

It's either a 5m. scart or a 5m. optical/co-ax to my amp...

Thank

Kurt

Kurt: If you hit the Canare or Belden web sites you will see that to show off their numbers, they roll out 100 feet (30 Meters) of this cable, then shove ever-increasing frequencies down it and publish/brag about the signal at the other end.

Your 5 meter run is trivial.

Are you running a video connection or digital audio?

If this is the dolby-digital feed, just go down and buy some CATV coax and adaptors to convert the ends to male RCA plugs and build your own. Some people do this when the DVD player is in a computer in the other room and they run 20-30 meters of coax and it works great.

The digital signals are fairly insensitive to the cable.

Hope this helps.
