Allen,
I have F1s, B2s, B1s, and a C1 in a 7.1 set up, with an SVS sub. I originally bought a Sony receiver in the DE line to go with them. I really liked the Athenas, but at high volumes they were fatiguing with the Sony. I upgraded to a HK AVR 525, and what a difference. Very warm sound. Highs are still clear but not forward and edgy at high volumes. I think you’ll find that the various reviews on the Audition line also state that they are overachievers for their price, and perform better with better electronics feeding them. I think HK would be a good match for you, but I don’t know if even the 7200 would satisfy your thirst for power. I'd say separates is probably the way you want to go, but I don’t have experience with other pre/pros setups to make a recommendation. All this to say that I think you will notice a difference with better and more power feeding the Athenas.
