I have a similar setup, but not the VRX's. I can't remember the model at the moment. I went with the micro110x's as rearbacks. Be sure to pick up their other mounting bracket so you can swivel it in to place: http://www.onecall.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=25589...
You're overthinking this. You blew up your speakers. That voids your warranty. Issue resolved! Big words and a long thought process will not cover this up.
Awesome, thanks. After listening for a couple days, it does make a decent difference. The rear sounds huge and more full compared to a few days ago. I've been using PLIIx on my yamaha htr 5890. I plan to pop in an authentic 6.1 movie for the real test. I think I have a couple laying around...
So my dad is remodeling his living room. Taking down the old, 70's woodgrain paneling and opting for drywall. He asked me about the possibility of him dropping some speaker cable in the back for rear/surrounds in the future. I have knowledge in equipment and setting it up, but none in these...
Alright, I got the bug to move to 7.1. I have a couple of boston micro110x's as sourround backs. I've posted pictures of my setup before and you guys helped me get everything where it needs to be. I have the new ones firing at the center of the couch. They are also set up directly across from...
All recievers are sold by themselves as far as I know. I have a yamaha HTR5890 from a couple years ago. New they were almost $1k, but now they can be had new for $400. That's 7.1 surround capable.

I went for the yammie 5890 and I'm lovin' it so far :P. I honestly couldn't ask for anyting more at this point. Well, now that I have 6.1 capabilities I've been looking into getting the rearl fills going.
Yeah, and your speaker's sensitivity rating will have more effect than a few rated watts as well. Coming from the guitar amp side of things, I can guarantee you a half a watt will power a speaker loud enough to cause a lot of pain :D. A nice, 15watt tube guitar amp is more than enough to play...
You guys have been a lot of help so far! I went ahead and got myself the 5890 last night. Got it all set up, speakers calibrated, etc... and watched me some Punisher :D. I'm thoroughly impressed so far and it is a huge step up in sound quality compared to the old, junky Sony. I'm none too...
Thanks for the quick replies, folks! I didn't think having a THX certified receiver was that big of a deal. I'm having a hard time finding info on the different models, so I figured I'd come ask you guys :D. This pioner would be better off than the Yamaha then?
Ok, guys, should I bother upgrading my old receiver (Sony STR-de625)? I've it had for almost 8 years I think. The 'A' channel doesn't work, but that's no big deal since I can just plug into 'B'. I'm looking at either a Yamaha HTR-5860, 5850, or the 5890. It'll be used with a set of Boston...
For those who have the same question I found out it is the MTRX parameter. But even after putting that to zero, the red is still too high according to Avia's calibration tests.
I recently bought Sony's KV32FS320 TV. It's the newer model so the 2 values that are needed to change the TV's red push switch are not available. Does anybody know which switch(es) in service mode I look need to look for in my late model Sony?
