Surround Speakers, How high can I go?

if you must mount your speakers higher than you wish consider mounting them upside down - or with the tweeter being closer to the ear than the woofer, if that's possible. This should give you better response and a more enveloping effect. Of course this is subjective and differs with speakers -...

Surround Speakers, How high can I go?

Dolby's website has much information on this.... As for the rear - yes. The sound stage should be U shaped or horse shoe shaped. People have the common misconception that the rear speakers are 'supposed' to be pointed at the back of your head or the middle of the room or whatnot. Ideally...

Question on rear centre speakers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why not yank your LCR600 center, ebay it, and run 602s3's all around? This would give you an almost seamless soundstage (room acoustics providing). I was going to do that with 3 pairs of B&W 602s3's, but later decided to go with 3 pairs of monitor audio s1's. Of course this is just my opinion.

    H/K AVR-7200 or Sony STR-DA3000

doesn't that sony reciever have a digital amp section? That alone would make me abandon that idea. To me you're still comparing a 2000 reciever to recievers in the 750 - 1000 range. It only makes sense to get the hk.

    H/K AVR-7200 or Sony STR-DA3000

When comparing those two you would be doing yourself a serious injustice if you didn't purchase the 7200. I'm not singling out sony, but they've never melted my butter in terms of recievers - they're always buggy, quirky, and have issues. HK amp section are very stout and they're processing...

Talk me into the H/K 7200

The video section is good. not perfect, but good. if you want better switching - get an audio athority (made here in my hometown of lexingon ky) automatic sensing component switcher. Hope you find your way soon. I'm a big hometheater buff and I don't find the video section that limiting...

Talk me into the H/K 7200

I ordered teh 7200 last night from an authorized dealer for 788. I am very excited about this beast. Just consider that this is unit is like 8mo's old and when it hit the shelves it retailed for over 2 grand. Considering that I'm having regrets for robbing the place I just ordered my 7200 from :D

    Klipsch vs. Axiom, re: brightness

hrmmmmm.... well congratulations - you are perhaps the first person to think dyne's are bright :D The obvious answer is that your ear is more used to a forward sound. Forward is usually associated with bright. I will conclude that it is probably not likely they sounded "thin" if they had...

    Klipsch vs. Axiom, re: brightness

wow. not trying to flame or anything, but i'm sure the preamp was the one torching those dyne's. Dynaudio has a reputation for being super lifelike and neutral. I've owned and listened to many, many of their products and "bright" is not one of thier characteristics - transparent and neutral are...

    Anyone Running a 6.1 setup on a HK 7200?

Howdy everyone! I'm probably going to purchase the HK 7200 and while reviewing the specs and stuff I noticed that there is not output for a "rear center" if you were to run a 6.1 setup - which I will be doing. There is only rear's and rear's a and b. Can I run a 6.1 setup or am i confined...

I can't decide between the yammy 1400 or HK 7200

i'm not overly concerned with "modes" I was just wondering which would be better - the 1400/2400 or the hk 7200.

I can't decide between the yammy 1400 or HK 7200

With recent price reductions and rebates, I can't decide which would be a better or more wise buy. My primary use will be for the likes of home theater with a little stereo listening as well. The HK has a very strong amp section and the yammy has the new DPIIx software where as the 7200 has...

    Studio 40's vs Studio 20's.

the 40's are the only set of speakers that I don't like in the studio line. At least in the new V3 series. They don't imgage as well as the 20's, barely go any deeper, and the midbass is a little muddy sounding. If it were me (and it is at the moment as I am more than likely going to purchase...

Speaker Upgrade?? (JBL Studio to B&W 600)

I don't know what it was. I've worked in sales and commission based sales a lot so I read people differently than others. The guy just seem like he was hassled with me. I wasn't trying to waste his time, but I don't know. Anyway yeah, I love HT and music. I'm checking into a similar setup as...

Speaker Upgrade?? (JBL Studio to B&W 600)

Hey Brandon, it's always cool to see a fellow Kentuckian on here, let alone a fellow UK student :D When you get back to school and check out those B&W's at "the only place in town that carries them" just be carefull. It's always great to be welcomed by sales people who treat you like you have...

    $4000 budet for a 5/6.1 - advice?

i was hoping to use bookshelfs all the way around as I'm primarily interested in HT. This way I can get better imaging and I don't need a tower for full range reproduction as I hope to incorporate 2 subs in the future. I've been considering 3 pairs of Monitor Audio S1's. But, I'm not so sure...

Building a HT with a good budget - Help

Assuming I spend 1000 of it on a reciever (HK 7200) i have about 2500 - 3000 to spend on the rest of the system. I'm open to floorstanders as well. If I get floorstanders I will not buy my sub at first. I appreciate all fo the help. comments/suggestions? Brandon

Building a HT with a good budget - Help

I won't be living where I am much longer so I don't plan on having a small space for my Home Theater. I just need advice on what would be the best bet in my price range. I don't live in a large enough metro area where I can demo many different brands and lines of speakers. I was just...
