I just got off the phone with DeepDiscount (formerly DeepDiscountDVD) where I was told that they not only didn't care that I wasn't happy with their service, they also didn't care if I ever ordered from them again and didn't care if I described my latest experience with them to anyone who'd...
I need to move! That house would be over 400k here, plus the taxes would probably be over 6k. The taxes on my old place are nearly 10k. Nice place, good luck!
Dave, That would be exactly what I'm looking for if it were a bit stronger. Unfortunately for me the weight limit per shelf is 15 pounds, the bedroom receiver is a Denon 1804, it weighs close to 30 pounds. I'm going to poke around the site though, hopefully there are other options.
No, not speaker wall mounts. I need to come up with an elegant way of mounting shelves that can hold the receiver, DVD player, DTV reciever, etc. I need something that looks good and can hold the weight of the stuff. Obviously the reciever is the main concern weightwise.
Okay, I'm under loads of pressure from the wife to finish up the bedroom HT. (To be honest it's barely even started.) Basically she's wondering why we have all this equipment still sitting in boxes 18 months after we finished construction on the new place. So, I need ideas on shelving for the...
I've got a 3 RCA - 3 BNC cable from Blue Jeans Cable that I've never used. I think it's the 9 foot version. If I remember right it cost me over $60 with shipping. It's never been used, I was going to buy a commercial Panny but changed my mind and got a Pioneer instead so I've never needed the...
I have a couple extras, was keeping them around in case I had any problems w/ the ones I'm using. I might be willing to sell you one. What did you have in mind for a price?
George,
I seem to have touched a nerve here without having meant to. I'm certainly not trying to make any blanket statements about unions, I was just relating how things were in the particular hub I worked in.
I CAN tell you that my experiences were all in the loading belts, maybe it was...
I worked for UPS in college loading the trucks at the warehouse. I don't want to make blanket statements but there were a whole mess of people who took it upon themselves to abuse packages whenever they felt the urge.
None of them cared much, UPS is a union shop (Teamsters) and the union...
Just a heads up for anyone who was interested. ecost says they will not be getting anymore of the refurb 2200 units from Denon. They canceled my order without even telling me, then conveniently "forgot" to credit back the extended warranty. I will definitely NOT be attempting to do business...
Does seem to be gone now, I guess they sold the shipment out already. They DO have the 2900 listed though at a pretty great price for it. If I didn't think the wife would kill me I'd cancel my order for the 2200 and get it.
Okay, I have a Denon DVD-2200 on order, looking for suggestions on where to buy hirez content. I'm looking for a great selection and/or great prices. I know I can go to the local BB or CC but I was hoping there are some other choices.
For anyone who's interested, ecost is expecting a shipment of refurb DVD-2200 machines next week. I ordered mine over the weekend, $278 for the unit. I'm a first time buyer from ecost but they're Denon authorized to sell their refurbs so I'm giving them a try. Never bought a refurb before...
This kind of thing kills me. If the majority of people who make blanket statements like "Stuff made in China is junk" and "Brand X is the best, I only buy their stuff" really knew the sources of a lot of things they'd just die. For instance, all the people who tout the Toshiba portable DVD...
Looks great Ed, someday I'll get started on my HT room, probably not until the fall though. I'll be touching base w/ you for that help w/ the woodworking stuff when I do though. Thanks again for the offer. Chad
Maybe I'm confused here, but you seem to be asking if the 1804 can act as an OTA HD tuner? If that is what you're asking, the answer is NO. You'll need a seperate OTA HD tuner, which you can then switch through the 1804, although you may not want to since the bandwidth on the 1804 is...
I'd recommend it without hesitation. For those of us of a certain age it will transport you back to your teenage years. The Bootleg edition is leaps and bounds better than the theatrical release despite the absence of DTS. I am especially fond of the deleted scene using "Stairway to Heaven"...
The 684 and the 1604 are the same receiver, w/ the exception that the 684 comes with half the warranty of the 1604. This is done to give retailers like Sears a lower cost version of the receivers to sell. The same is true for the 884 and 1804. As Thomas pointed out there ARE differences...
Denon makes great receivers and crappy speakers. I think you'll find almost universal agreement that the speakers that come w/ HTIB systems are not so great. If you really like Denon receivers (as I do) and you want a surround sound system for under $500 I'd suggest you go w/ a 1604 from 6ave...
You can probably get the 1604 for a substantially cheaper price from 6ave. For a while now they've been selling current model Denon receivers for the same price as the older generation ones listed on their website. For example, myself and many others purchased the Denon 3803 from them for the...
MikeCooper, Yes, the price listed on the website is $499 but call them and ask, unless they've discontinued the pricing you can get an 1804 from them for $355 shipped. I got the 3803 from them for $648. Brand new, unopened factory box, full factory warranty.
I don't see any reason to buy b stock given that 6ave is selling brand new stuff w/ full warranties (Denon authorized) for about the same price. Also, my experiences w/ Dakmart have all involved very rude behavior from their employees AND the owner.
I'd be willing to give him maybe $175 for the center and two satellites if he's interested. He's way off on the pricing though, you can still find them new, the entire 5.1 setup for less than he wants for 2 satellites and the center.
