OK, so far I am happy with the unit, much more to my liking than the Onkyo. However, I must have something hooked up wrong or I am screwing up the settings. I just watched Rock Star. Thought that would be a good DVD to test the surround sound. It is supposed to be recorded in Dolby Digital...
Hey Frank, I'll be listening when you get yours set up (I also live in your area...Blue Ridge Mountains-on Smith Mountain Lake). I also just picked up the 6070 at Best Buy (along with Polk Audio speakers from JandR). I'll post my opinions when I get it set up. Thanks for all the info!
So what do I really lose if I get a receiver with component switching that only has a bandwith of 10 mhz but I also have an HDTV with several sets of component inputs???
Thanks...good thread! So if I understand this correctly now, the bottom line is if I go with the Kenwood VR-6070 and an HDTV, I need to make sure the HDTV has enough inputs to handle all my video sources.
Can someone please explain video component switching to me? Specifically, what can't I do with a Kenwood VR-6070 and an HDTV since the video component switching bandwith is only 10mhz on the receiver? How do you work around this issue? Tx.
I just returned the Onkyo TX600. Not enough power and hardly any bass management. I was about to order the Kenwood 6070 until I saw this post. 10Mhz bandwith on component inputs/outputs??? So this is not HDTV compatible???
Yes, but they are setup in different rooms and are powered by different receivers/amps. Since the Polks are in the listening room, they sound great. Since the Onkyo's aresetup on the main floor, in the middle of a noisy 100' x 100' open area, they do not sound impressive in that environment.
I know full well what the consensus will be base on reputation alone, but I have read quite a few "reviews" from consumers who swear that the Onkyo's sound just as good. I can't find a store that has them both setup in the same room and connected to the same receiver/amp, so I have been unable...
Thanks for all the info guys. Will probably be placing an order for the VR-6070 tomorrow. Now I just have to find a 5.1 or 6.1 speaker set to go with it (within my speaker budget of $600).
The manaul/web page refers to this receiver having a K-STAT Discrete Audio Amplifier, implying but not actually saying that there are dedicated, discrete amplifiers for each channel. This claim seem to be further in question whn looking at the specifications, which will say both the left and...
I just got the Onkyo TX-SR-600 and I am very unhappy with it. There is no way this receiver pushes 80watts RMS, and music just sounds completely flat (don't know how else to describe it). The system is for music as well as HT. I'm using Onkyo HTS-500 5.1 surround speakers. My room is fairly...
