First question: are yamahas considered "high current" receivers, like the way HK advertise their receivers? What about Onkyo and Denon? What would one consider is the minimal amp rating to be considered "high current"? I am talking about both lower end HTR-5550 and mid level RVX 1300...
YMMV with Tweeters. Also, depends on how well a particular salesman has done that week or month that would allow him to offer certain deals that other salesman can't (to some extent). I was lucky...I think. I shopped for an RXV1300, best online place was for $550+ship but not authorized which I...
It seems to me that adjusting levels on Rp82 does make a difference just not enough. I have sub at +6 it's definitely better than 0 but not the same as DD at 0. Maybe just my imagination. I don't disagree that rumours is a good test disc. I guess I figured that since it is not a recent...
Just had a RP-82 for about 3 weeks now. Trying to experiment with DVD-Audio. Only have one disc now (Rumours- fleetwood mac, probably not a great disc to experiment with). Before I had a 5.1 input receiver to get the music in 5.1 I had to switch DVD-Video mode to ON (last menu) for it to play...
you are right! I was all set to get the HTR5590 when I went to the store andfound out that it does not have 5.1 pre-outs!!! Yet the lower 5560 does (and so does the 5590 equivalent RXV1300). That makes no sense. Why does the 5560 have pre-outs and 5590 does not? Pre-outs vs. 2 zones...tough...
As a matter of fact, the more I look at the pictures and specs, it seems that the rxv730 and htr5560 are identical and the htr5590 and rxv1300 are identical
I have finally decided to go with Yamaha as a receiver due to my 80%HT 20% music listening. What I need to decide is which models. They seem to have too many lines. The two I have seen the most is RXV and HTR lines. What are the difference? I heard somewhere here that the RXV line if bought over...
I am still puzzled about this main-in's on the 520 that ia not available on the 525? My understanding is that the main in's will allow you to use the receiver as an amplifier only, I assume if you down the line wanted to use a separate preamp or processor? Is that right? But, if a receiver...
btw mark, the 5560 does have multichannel pre-inputs. There is a button in the front to switch to the multichannel input? I was going through the yamaha manul and cannot figuree if the 5560 does 5 channel stereo? Meaning can i play stereo music directed equally through all speakers (But...
By the way, question about the 520: I have heard alot about the 520 having main in's but the 525 does not. What exactly is this "main in's" and how is it used? Please be specific and try not to use initials like ?ICBM?. Is this different than the 6 channel pre-input or 6 channel pre-output?
went to circuit city to listen to HK and onko. They have a new policy at this store that does not allow anyone, even circuit city personnel to change out DVD. So the only dvd they had in the machines were Santana. So there is no way to audition HT, especially center vocals in dialogs...
that crisp center channel clarity is exactly what i am looking for Also, with component switching, are they high band (HD compatible) for HK and yamaha?
does the yammy 5560 do component switching? what about HK 520? do either of these do 4 or 5 channel stereo? so hard to decide.... still never got an answer about whether with the HK, you can have front 4 ohms with rear and center 8 ohms
Can you elaborate on how HK price will get better and when? I thought the HK was capable of 6.1. Do you mean we need an extra amp to do 6.1 with HK520?
Thanks guys for the replies so far. Everyone has a good point. Sp far it seems that most of you guys are saying that HK is good, and then of course the periodic suggestion that Yamaha may be better for HT which has also be mentioned here before in these forums. By the way, when people say...
Yet another request for receiver advice. I want to get a mid to low price HT receiver from 300-600 range. I originally liked the Onkyo 700, but based on this forum I have heard that the power is very overstated, so I started looking for other options. I am actually using this 70% Ht and 30%...
