I plan to use a seperate amp to run my speakers. From what Ive seen, the alpine and eclipse units are out of my price range. Im a college student so I dont have lots of money to throw around. Ive got an older sony deck that I got for free but it doesnt have the sound quality that im looking for...
The car Im talking about is a 90 bonneville. The subs are infinity reference 12 inch, I dont have an amp yet. What I am trying to achieve is gettign the most good bass that I can using the least power and the least noise from rattling. Would removing the 6x9s decrease the pressure in the trunk...
Should I remove the rear 6x9s and leave the holes open so I can get more bass inside the car? I will add 3 1/2" speakers in the back for rear fill. Good idea?
What is the difference between the regular pioneer cd players and the premier versions? I like the look of the premiers better, and the prices are similar per model. I am looking at DEH-P760MP on ebay. The Premier DEH-P7600MP seems to have similar features. Which one is better? ALSO these head...
Here is a pic of my stuff. low res pic, I know... http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...60_21_full.jpg What the deal with these tweets? Do they have a seperate crossover that will go to my components? OR do I have to remove my components tweeter? I don't really have any room to put...
The 6x9s were unpowered during the bass test, but after, when I plugged them in by themselves at low volumes, you can hear that the speaker is damaged internally, it crackles and distorts even when it is barely turned on. I didn't know the speaker was damaged until I turned off the subs and...
I was originally asking if packing the plastic cover on the back or the 6x9s with insulating material would perform as if they were in a sealed enclosure. I was talking about crossovers because I must have explained it wrong. I know what crossovers to use. Now I need to look for a dynamat type...
The reason that I bought this stuff is that I knew a guy that had this stuff brand new. This is what I paid for them (canadian $) Sony CDX-L550X ---> FREE Rockford Fosgate FN2514 components ---> $100 Rockford Fosgate HPC2369 ---> $75 Rockford Fosgate 500X ---> $150 2-12" Infinity...
Hmm. 1. yes, it sounds like A$$ without matting ,the whole back of the car rattles so bad that I would be embarassed for people to hear it from the outside. 2. When I blew the 6x9 they were unpowered, (only the subs were hooked up to the amp) I unhooked the rear speaker leads at the HU. The...
UPDATE!!! I tried hooking up my subs without sealing the 6x9s. Guess what! The "pressure" of the subs BLEW MY LEFT 6X9. So much for that theory, The subs weren't even at HALF excursion. I guess that answers my question. Now I need to seal them for sure :frowning: I've decided to only use one...
What do you think of this system? Sony CDX-L550X Rockford Fosgate FN2514 components (5 1/4 inch) Rockford Fosgate HPC2369 (6x9) Rockford Fosgate 500X (4 channel) 2-12" Infinity Reference 1230W (sealed) (no sub amp yet) So what do you guys think? Any comments would be great :) I am...
OK ill give it a shot. The amp I was referring to is the one that is driving my mains (4 ch) It has a low/all/high (80 hz, 12db/octave)pass filter switch. (I dont like to use single caps b/c it shifts the phase) I don't have a sub amp as of yet, but when I do I will get one with a variable low...
Are you sure that the pressure won't damage the subs? Would you reccomend that I use the 80hz high pass x-over built into mt amp? its a rockford 500x btw. Im just worried that my 6x9s will go for crap with the subs beating on them.
In the rear deck of my car, I want to seal the 6x9s from the trunk to 1. To increase power-handling, and 2. most importantly, to avoid blowing the speakers due to the pressure of my 12" infinitys. The way the rear sheet metal is in my car, (90 bonneville) it would be a bit difficult to seal them...
Does anyone here own this amp? OR have the specifications on it? I am thinking of buying one of these to drive my subs. I can get it for $150 canadian.
How do those kits from Adire really sound? Is it true that they are comparable with speakers costing up to $1500? How would say, kit51 compare to paradigm titans? I realize that these speakers may be in a totally different league but this is Adire's least expensive kit and is in a similar price...
You don't even have to short the coil. Just leave it open. Chances are that you will run out of mechanical power handling before you reach the electrical limits of the driver so the 2nd coil is more for wiring flexibility than performance.
I see... thanks for the info. I understand a lot better now. Sorry for changing the subject of the original post. i hope you found what you were looking for Jason, good-luck :)
So I stand corrected, what can i say:b So it is the decoders that raise the volume of DTS tracks? Maybe that is a marketing ploy from DTS because the average person thinks that what is louder is better right? The hissing I am referring to is not loud, but just enough to hear when the volume is...
DD may be more universal but i prefer dts mostly due to the increase in recorded volume. i find that the louder signal masks the hissing sound when the volume is high and the passage is quiet. has anyone else noticed this? i have a yamaha htr-5560 the range compression is in the main menu number...
how is polyfill measured? the plans call for 60 oz how much is 60 oz? also my floor is wood underneath carpet. the sub would be in a closet shaped area. it would not be practical to place a concrete slab in the upstairs of my house. the bass energy passes through my entire house as it is. would...
do i just throw the stuff in or should i staple it to the walls? and will all of the bass be aimed directly at the floor? wouldnt this cause problems with plaster cracking downstairs?
ive noticed that all of the vented designs have the sub and the ports firing downward. does this cause all of the energy to be aimed at the floor? (what height for the legs is recommended?) and what is this poly fill? is it just a loose insulation type material? i think i will go with the SBB4...
oh yeah thats rite i use my system 70 music/ 30 HT but i primarily want it for HT. i listen to rap and dance for the most part. my room is about 11x14 with a 12 foot ceiling (that tapers to a peak, its an attic bedroom also it is attached to another room of equal size) i listen to music loud and...
thanks a lot! that pretty much answers my question. DIY it is! time is money, but then again MONEY is money too so i think that this is by far the best way to go. i see what you mean as far as extra costs, advertising and shipping and such. ide rather be part of a niche market than just another...
please pardon my ignorance, its not that i dont believe you but if these subs are so good, then why are subwoofer companies still in business? the hgs-15 costs over 2 grand. yet a tempest or shiva sub would cost under 500. that pretty impressive wouldnt you say? and would the plans from adire be...
im new to this forum so i want to start off by saying hello to everyone! for the last few days ive been reading over all the posts regarding DIY subs. it seems that building a sub using tempests or shivas is the way to go. (there are some beautiful ones on this site BTW) my questions is, how...
