You don't even have to short the coil. Just leave it open. Chances are that you will run out of mechanical power handling before you reach the electrical limits of the driver so the 2nd coil is more for wiring flexibility than performance.

I know nothing about screens but couldn't you use an entire sheet of drywall as a screen and paint it? its approximately 16:9 or you could cut it....

sure you can. You don't have to use both coils. just hook up one coil of each sub in series. Yes the Pmax will be reduced but it can be done.

DD may be more universal but i prefer dts mostly due to the increase in recorded volume. i find that the louder signal masks the hissing sound when the volume is high and the passage is quiet. has anyone else noticed this? i have a yamaha htr-5560 the range compression is in the main menu number...
