I need a sub for my car and love the sound of my Tempest sub. This would make it a good time for an upgrade for the home sub. My question is... since the Tumult future is unknown.. What other type of "high excursion" subs can I put in a 8.5 cf sealed enclosure? I see the recommended alignments...
I didn't use any adhesive for the polyfill I put in my box. I think the adhesive is for the polyfill batting material that comes flat and in layers... not the pillow stuffing type. You should be able to just jam it in there.. just make sure it isn't "too" stuffed. I hear 1lb. per cubic foot. I...
Man.. this thing sure broke in.. The Tempest sounds soooo much better than it did when I first installed it. Anyone know when the Tumult should come out? or is this the million dollar question? I may move the Tempest into my car if it comes out soon!

my Tempest has it's own room.
Luckily.. I found a good spot in the room for it.

How's this for room gain? :D

The driver finally either got broke in.. or me moving it to the opposite side of the room did it.
I wish I could have kept it in the cubby...
I recieved my Tempest and finished my box... but for some reason.. I felt the bass was lacking. It sounded great if you put your ear near the sub. I moved the sub into a cubby hole in my room (hard to explain but I can take pics)and the bass increased 10 fold. I don't have any leaks. When I push...
it sure is! I think I am going to go crazy sitting here looking at this box in my living room. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. :frowning:
I hope the Tempest is as good as you guys say it is!
Once I get accustomed to the Tempest.. I think I will go with the Tumult as soon as it is...
I finally completed my first DIY sub.. I posted a few days ago on the list regarding the progress.. I decided to laminate the box which turned out to be REAL easy.
I will document the process soon.. I lost the text on my webpage.. I just wanted to throw the pics up and let you see the final...
Neil: It already feels like about 100lbs.. hehe.. it's not as easy to flip over and prep when you get to the end of the project... I need a sliding miter saw and a table saw.. anyone got any recommendations? Something around say... $350-400 each? Julian Brock
I know... I messed up on the screws.. I didn't know.. I just saw someone else do it on another page.. I don't need nearly as many as I used. It sure helps though when you don't have many clamps. the screws also prevent me from rounding the edges with the router. hehe... luckily... I plan to...
I have some experience soldering... but not designing crossovers... I think I will start by cloning someone else's project design.. then as I learn.. getting more comfortable with doing it... start fiddling with creating my own crossovers. Julian Brock
it sure is a lot easier when you got plans to base your project on! I can't wait to build my MTM's... I am dreading trying to build the crossovers though... hope it's easy to learn. Julian
Sorry if this is the advanced forum but as a first time DIY'er... I have been a long time lurker learning from the people of this forum and just wanted to share my first experience in the DIY circus. Thanks for all the info.. it sure made it a lot easier and cheaper (doing it right the first...
