When I turn on my receiver, it turns on my uverse box, blu-ray player, and roku streamer. This all worked seamlessly for several years.
Then recently, when I would switch to the blu-ray HDMI input, the receiver would turn off. I switched the cable, same issue. I switched the HDMI port, same...
This is a new development, as I have not changed anything in my setup for several years. Today, when I switched to the Blu-Ray player (using HDMI), the receiver turns off. this happens repeatedly. The other HDMI ports and inputs work fine (i.e. Roku, TV).
It is definitely the Blu-Ray player...
No offended at all. I realize I am getting free help, and am thankful for any ideas / suggestions. I think I am doing this correctly, as the VCR also uses the same "path" - i.e. the composite connection between the DVD / VCR combo and the TV.
I have a Samsung DVD-V6700 DVD / VCR combo. This is connected to a Yamaha AVR, and to my HDTV monitor, a 2003 Panasonic. This DVD / VCR combo replaces an older one I moved to the kid’s playroom. This newer DVD / VCR combo does not have an RF in / out for the cable antenna. The old one did...
Thanks Joe I think you are right. I used to have this hooked up to a newer TV, and I used the Component outs. Looking at the manual, which is, of course poorly written, there is an "Alt Video Out" that has at least two values: S-Video and Component. Presumably, there is a third value labeled...
I have a 2003 Samsung DVD-V4600 DVD / VCR combo. This is connected to a Samsung TXJ2556, a 1999 TV with composite inputs. I know this is old tech, but I would like to get this working for the kid's playroom. I have run the cable antenna from the wall, thru the DVD player, to the TV. The...
Thanks John That simplifies things, as I think most subs have speaker level inputs, yes? But I was looking more for the "wiring diagram" answer. I will take a stab at it, and hopefully someone can confirm / correct me: 1) Run the speaker outputs for the L/R mains to the speaker level...
Looking to buy a sub-woofer, but i still have a twenty year-old 2 channel receiver with no sub output. I figure this can be done, but not sure how? Can someone illuminate me? And yes, I will replace the reciever one day (even soon, I hope). Thanks
My Yamaha RX-V470 has begun switching off, for reasons I cannot explain, about 3 seconds after I turn it on. This happens even with no other connections to the receiver (no speakers, no sources). Any ideas? Is this an easy fix, or should I start looking for a new receiver?
Ben JBL S26's for $150 with free shipping is a solid deal, and I believe you will be happy with them. They are fairly efficient, producing good volume without requiring lots of power. The Denon should power them sufficiently, certainly enough for a dorm room. I have the Axiom M3ti's...
The M22ti is on the Axiom Factory Outlet website (http://www.axiomaudio.com/factoryoutlet.html) for $360. The VP150 (step up from VP100) is also there for $315. I own the M3ti and am very happy with them. Customer service is great. Check the Axiom message boards or send Amie...
I'm on a budget for a sub. Can anyone comment on their experience with Home Theater Direct, specifically their new Level TWO subwoofer? www.hometheaterdirect.com
Here are some "sub-$400 subs" that I would consider (I am not making any specific recommendations: Sorry about the lousy formatting. If anyone could tell me how to format a paste from an Excel spreadsheet, I would fix this. NameItemPriceShippingTotalWooferDimensionsContinuous PowerMax...
I have an older Pioneer receiver with no sub out. To use a sub, I think I connect the line level outs from the receiver to the (powered) sub, then the line level outs from the sub to my L/R speakers. Is this right? If this is correct, can I still use the volume control on my receiver, or is...

Mark - Axiom is clearly marketed as "budget audiophile" and IMO they succeed admirably. Unlike some other speaker manufacturers that produce both "mass" commercial and audiophile product lines, Axiom is focused on buyers who desire high quality at affordable prices. IMO, the way Axiom...
Receiver with Selectable Bass Filter above 120 Hz? Many of the AV receivers I am looking at "fix" the bass filter at 80, 100, or 120 Hz. I am interested to know if anyone is aware of AV receivers to set the filter higher, i.e. as high as 150 - 200 Hz. Alternatively, are there receivers...
Matt -
Good for you on the M3Ti purchase. I would be interested to hear your opinions as well as what other equipment you have in your "arsenal" in addition to the Sony sub.
I am still running a 20 year old Pioneer receiver, with plans to upgrade soon, so your experiences would help my...

On an Axiom note, the M22s are indeed very good, but so are the M3Ti's ($275 or $247.50 Factory Outlet).
Since you have a sub, the extra "bass boost" of the M22 might not be required (although the M22's also have more "balance" in the mids, according to some reviewers).
I have the...

I also recommend the Axiom line. In addition to the M3i's (which I have), Axiom also makes smaller bookshelves that are highly regarded.
The M2i is "Factory Outlet" priced at $229.50 US, including shipping to US and Canada. I have the Factory Outlet M3i and cannot find the reason...

If you are set on the JBLs, I would re-evaluate the S38s, primarily for the low-end bass response. Since your budget is fixed, the speakers you buy will have to produce the full range of sound.
Personally, I second the Axiom recommendation. I have a set of M3Ti's, but the M22Ti's...
Shawn - Here are some suggestions to research. The price is street, not including tax and / or shipping. All are available from internet retailers, some at your local hi-fi or big box electronic shop. For primarily music, I would look most closely at the Adire, Aperion, Axiom, PSB, and Sound...
Try these. These sites had the best prices about 6 months ago when I was looking at the JBLs.

Silly me, I didn't know Fosgate made home theater speakers! Does anyone have any experience with Fosgate Audionics subs? The FA 12.0 seems like a great sub according to the specs, and the price is unbeatable. Any user notes, good or bad?
