John, Drop kick the Denon 2900 to Ebay or Audiogon and get yourself a Pioneer 59AVI, which runs any and every disc. Legendary reliability to boot. It can be had nowadays for $700 shipped. Audio and video wise, it compares to the Denon 3910...except without the headaches! Life is too short my...
The 588 has added DIVX functionality. Users report better picture quality (12 bit Dacs!). The sound is also supposed to sound meatier (better low end as opposed to the 578 which sounded thinner). Also uses Mediatek chips for seamless layer change(i.e. no picture pauses)--very unique in the DVD...
Couldn't you also put MP3s on a CD-R or DVD-R/+R? That could also solv you ills. Denons are notorious for disc incompatabilities btw. The Pioneers, on the flip side, are legendary for reading all sorts of discs and being reliable.
I just bought Hsu VT-12 Mini system for my parents for Xmas. What is the best $200 (used or new) that would mate WELL with a mini system?... Btw, Hsu reps have recommended a Sherwood receiver. Comments?.......
I heard good things about the Zenith. I bought one today. Better than the $20 RCA.....still lacks in terms of competing with a well designed roof mounted antenna. I getting NBC, UPN (grainy) and 3 latin channels. No PBS unfortunately. The stations are coming from a broadcasting tower 48 miles...
I connected a $20 RCA Indoor Antenna (#ANT130) to my HTPC and it was unfortunately a p.o.s. I could only pull in NBC and a couple of latin channels--all grainy. Can anyone recommend a great antenna that's better than the RCA. Budget is no concern............

It has already been reported in "DVD Etc" magazine that the Supercube Reference received a 99/100 rating. Following on the heels of that report, "Perfect Vision" magazine just did a review on the Deftech Supercube Reference sub (May/June 2004), calling it one of the "fastest cleanest, most...
Perhaps one of the centers with subs included in them from Definitive Technology. They're cheaper and kick a$$! http://www.definitivetech.com/loudspeakers/clr/clr.html
Under $3000 budget: I'm looking for a very good to great DVD player that doesn't have the 1-2 second dual layer freezing that most players have these days. Any recommendations?..........
Btw, IMHO, you can do better for the money than the Titus or Axiom. Check out the following speaker line from EFE Technology. Truly giant killer speakers. http://www.audioreview.com/Main+Spea...5_1594crx.aspx
Calling the speakers bright is reeaally subjective. These two speakers are universally raved for their musicality by users and pro reviewers alike. I don't consider the speakers bright at all. Of course, I've listened to them on good equipment. With such great speakers, you need a good...
Congrats Yousaf. :emoji_thumbsup: You made an exceptional speaker choice. Please post a review when you get them! :D If you don't like them, PM me to take them off your hands. I'll somehow find a way to fit them into my eclectic speaker collection. ;)
Sorry. I thought I posted his old LA information earlier. Too lazy to check the last page of this thread about what I wrote :D About the clarity issue, I believe Ed told me everything is the same, with just a tad more bass. Btw, the T-36 uses carbon woofs that is shared with the upgraded...
My family bought last week a 36" JVC (model#: av36f704). The Good Guys people told my family that the Xbox colors will do DAMAGE to the tv. They said they always get returns on TVs b/c they cannot handle Xbox or PS2 games as it's detrimental and ultimately fatal to LARGE size tvs like the...
Hi Yousaf, FWIW, apparently Ed changed locations. He used to be in California but apparently he moved to sunny Arizona. I just found out his new contact info is the following: ED FRIAS ENTERPRISES 668 W Lee Blvd Prescott, AZ 86303 928-778-2616 [email protected] I'm glad...
Yousaf, I know of one person (Pete Whitely)([email protected]) over at AudioAsylum.com that had the Europas and T-22's. He could not choose one over the other. He LOVED both speakers and thought they were better than $3500 JM Reynauds. The T-22's do have more selection in finishes than...
Absoltely run this test!! The VMPS subs have loooong been reputed as some of the best at any price. I have yet to hear a customer that has preferred something else over their VMPS sub. Please, for the love of man, do humanity a favor and run a shoot-out... :D
Another suggestion aside of Odyssey: EFE. EFE is a little known company that have received HUGE raves. They are very dynamic and forward and live sounding. While their prices are great and compete directly with speakers sevral times thier price point, Ed "the Crossover MASTER" Frias of EFE...
I own an AThena ASP-400. I bought mine for $270 on Audiogon, new. It's a great sub and has received awards for its performance. Look at the reviews below: http://www.hometheatersound.com/equi...ion_asp400.htm http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/art...ber=1&preview=...
