Same here. Over the past two years, there have been a few titles that I wanted to buy but didn't because I knew that HD was coming. Sin City was one of them. This one should look great in HD.
That's what I plan to do as well. I may only keep the HD-A2 for 6 months to 1 year. I'll decide whether or not to sell it at that time. Since I won't be buying any HD DVD discs (except for the five I'll be getting for free), I really won't be losing too much.
I picked this player up last week at Best Buy to go with my new 50PH9UK plasma. I have it set to 1080i/60 via HDMI, since that is what my display accepts. I am using the optical audio output, since I have an older receiver (Denon AVR-5700) Overall, it's a pretty good player. The image and...
I don't think Yi's reply is entirely accurate. First of all, I believe the answer to your first question is NO. The first wave of HD DVD & Blu-ray players will not support DD HD or DTS-HD. This is because these formats rely on HDMI 1.3 to be passed digitally to the receiver (earlier HDMI...
This is one of those films that I think most of us are looking forward to. Hat's off to Warner for such an excellent job. It should be great. Regarding this review however, I question the video and audio ratings of 4.5/5. I realize that this DVD will look and sound better than any other...
Can I assume that there still has been no word on future releases of Kill Bill on DVD? I sure would like to get my hands on an extended, unrated, S.E. treatment of both films (sigh...).
Does anyone know if there is a City of God Special Edition DVD in the works? The original release has been out for over a year now, so the time is right, IF it's going to happen. I guess this title may not be popular enough to warrant one, however. I love this movie, so I'm thinking of...
I was is the exact some position you were in until I saw this one for sale at an online place for $13.99 delivered! Since this is one of my favorites, and one of the few DVDs I own, I went for it. Even better, I was able to net almost 8 bucks for my older copy on eBay last week. Judging by the...
The 1997 'Special Edition' soundtracks really are great. I hope they give the prequel soundtracks the same 2-disc per movie treatment. I have the single disc releases for Eps I, II, & III, but more is always better. I still haven't listened to ROTS all the way through - only the first couple...
I think this is one of those titles that they know will have lots of demand in the DVD market, hence the multiple releases. The studios aren't stupid. If they think that they can sell you (us) the same thing twice, they will try. The way to combat this is to not buy the initial release...
Joe, Thanks for the tip. I'm actually already working on some full length drapes just as you suggested. Should help to tone down any sound issues as well as keep out the light when I want to watch a movie. We'll see!! Thanks again.
I moved into a loft/condo in San Francisco a couple of months ago and am just now starting to get my audio system set up. The place is about 15' wide, 40' long, and has 18' ceilings. It's basically one big room, with an upper mezzanine that extends about half way across the length of the room...
Perhaps I am missing something, but don't you want your sub's output level to be the same as that of the other speakers, instead of 5 db higher, as you have it now? Is there any practical or recommended reason for doing this, or do you just like to have your bass a little heavier than normal...
I was wondering if anyone out there has purchased any of the new KEF Q Series speakers (Q1, Q3, Q5, Q7, etc)? If so, what is your general application (mostly HT or mostly Hi-Fi) and what has been your overall satisfaction rating with the speakers? Also, with which speakers did you compare them...
