thanks jeremy i'll take your advice and leave it off
I think I should leave DNR off to since I see most people on this forum or as far as I've seen from previous posts leave it off as well
I'd like to know if Contrast+ is just philips way of naming Scan Velocity Modulation. I really like to know if these to names are really the synonymous. Here's a description of SVM by our own Jack Briggs
thanks guys, great info oh and jeff the only reason I'm getting it at best buy is because of my friend's employee discount there which we'll find out today how much is taken off the 49 dollar retail prices (she pays 5% over what best buy pays to get it)
I'm thinking of getting a calibration disk for my tv and as far as my previous experience with them I'm not getting the dvd silver series one from discwasher. For one the disc had no clear cute way of telling me if was setting my contrast right since I never saw the change they told me to look...

hey I'm just a bit curious on what AVIA type calibrated settings each one of you have so if you can fill me in that would be appreciated

thank you for the prompt reply I'll go for avia and if the new VE comes out b4 I make my purchase then so be it. I checked with normal cable, rca, and s-video and no it seems my tv is without a tint control, very weird indeed. About the contrast+ is that something I should leave on or off...
forgot to add one more thing though I doubt the relevance of this but here it goes anyway
I'm using a pioneer DV-341 dvd player hooked up to the TV via component video
First off I just like to say nice to meet you all and hopefully I'll benefit from all of your collective knowledge and once i start working build a home theater worthy of my dvd's. Now to the subject at hand. I recently bought a 27" Phillips TV model 27PS50B for my bedroom since the 19" just...
