I am selling a Key Digital vga to component adapter w/ VGA loop through. I have used it for less than a year and paid the $200 retail for it so I am asking $100. The picture quality is amazing and it is known as the best vga/component transcoder. [email protected] to reach me quickly.
I'm running 1920x540p and it looks soooo much better than my progressive scan dvd player that I would have to say that no stand alone is going to output anything like the res I'm putting out. I have read this over and over again on the AVS page and my findings definately would confirm it. From...
You have to own a Radeon 8500 or greater for the vga to component adapter to work, otherwise you need a transcoder which is what I use. Check out Key Digital's transcoders, it's what I own and it works flawlessly.
Yeah, powerstrip wasn't too bad, just make sure to read those pages I linked. The most important part to know are the timings, which for me was the 1080i/540p timings (they are the same). The 1080i/540p timings are 33.75hrz horizontal scan rate, 60hrz (roughly) vertical scan rate and then the...
I just got my htpc setup with a Key Digital transcoder (vga to component adapter). I did all the reading on how to tweak with powerstrip on pages like http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/exper...uperguide.html and http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/powerstrip.html. Then I set mine to 960x540p and got...
I've read that 1080i from an htpc to an hdtv can be a bit fuzzy for text and that the video is good, but 540p is fine for text. What I can't find is peoples opinion on video quality between the two. I've got a transcoder on the way and I was wondering which one of the two I want to attempt to...
I'm thinking about getting an RCA transcoder (since it is the only one I can afford), but my panasonic hdtv can only handle 480i, 480p, and 1080i. I was wondering what kind of luck I will likely have with a transcoder and powerstrip in getting a 1080i output? By the way, I have a duron 880 with...
If you are using the tv-out (s-video), you have to use a resolution of 640x480. Anything higher will look like crap since it comes out as 640x480 anyways and trying to push it at 800x600 will push the vid card harder and quality will drop drastically. If you have an HDTV, DON'T use the s-video...
I use a 3.5mm headphone jack (MONO!) to RCA coax adapter and it works fine and mine is an older soundblaster. I transfer everything from dts and dd to mp3's with it, but I did NOT load any of the soundblaster software because I had many more problems with it loaded.
If you have stuff that you want to watch on tv that isn't quickly converted to a format that plays in a dvd player, I suggest doing a s-video out from you video card (given that your card has it) and set the resolution to 640x480 since that is the resolution of ntsc sets. If you try ANYTHING...
try an output resolution of 640x480 since that is all s-video output cards do (they just down res. all other res's you set). To set it at 640x480, go into settings, advanced, adapter, list all modes, and choose 640x480. If you do any other res, it will look worse since s-video outputs on a pc...
Say I were to use the digital out of a 24 bit audio card, Audigy for example, versus the digital out of a 16 bit card, example the SBlive, what are the difference I will notice? Will everything that goes to my reciever be at 24 bit with the audigy or just what is originally 24 bit material (I...
You may want to try the TheaterExcel (aka audioexcel 515)
for $20 you can't beat it. It has 6 channels and a daughter card that has an optical out and in. Its easy to find on ebay with a quick search of audioexcel or go to this site: http://www.directron.com/av515m.html
another easy to use...
For one, your pc is probably a little on the slow side for windows xp. XP demands MUCH more ram than other os's. If you upgrade to more ram and possibly a new processor, everything will work fine with xp. I have a duron 800 with 256mb of 100mhz ram in my machine running xp and I kinda get the...
I'm guessing you have an s-video input on your tv. If so, try finding a video card with s-video out (I suggest an ATI Radeon). Run the SoundBlaster Live to your recievers coaxial digital input (with a mono 3.5mm to coaxial converter, can be had for a couple bucks at a place like Rat Shack). Use...
fixed my own problem, used zoomplayer to do a mild 5% vertical stretch which puts the video right where the dvd standalone is. If anyone wants to do this, use zoomplayer, go to player options, choose aspect ratio and mess with the stretch.
I use 640x480 ntsc with my s-video out on my htpc and it correctly fills the screen, but when I play a dvd (with any software) I get a screen size that is 1.5" shorter vertically than my stand alone dvd player does (32" tv). The stand alone dvd player plays slightly over the actual aspect ration...
My goal was 5.1 stereo, but was curious if it could come out of the pc as 5.1 stereo since my reciever can't do 5.1 stereo, pro logic II (only logic I) or dts Neo:6. I guess I'm stuck with stereo, but I also never stated that I wanted to DSP the signal in any way as a reciever does.
Is there any software out there that I can use to make my mp3's play as a 5.1 format. I don't care if it is just 5.1 stereo since my reciever doesn't have that feature and I want mp3's in all 5.1 channels. I am currently doing the digital out of a creative live to coax in on the reciever if that...
if you want to change virtual ram for the time being (before upgrading), go to control panel, then performance and maintenance, then system, then advanced, then choose performance settings, then choose advanced and at the bottom of the window will be virtual memory and it gives you a button to...
I use a radeon 7200 with s-video out at a resolution of 640x480 (anything over results in a bad picture due to the card having to downsize the 640x480). The picture looks great. I can read everything clearly, even songs in a winamp playlist. Movies look great with it! Once I tweaked with...
Check http://www.altex.com/ and search for "bnc" (called "15-pin High Density D-Sub") The two at the bottom of the search page that are under VGA are what you want.
Two of the five BNC connectors are not used, just let them hang.
This will let you do HD from a pc. Use powerstrip to figure...

If you guys want a cheap alternative to the audigy or other expensive audio cards and have great results, try out the Audioexcel AV515M (the theaterexcel). I found it on pricewatch.com for $22 plus $6 s/h. I think this price can be beat on ebay by a few bucks (search audioexcel). It has a...
I was just interested in finding a tv-out card that might do a better job than the Radeon for a comparable price. I am building up a htpc to play divx movies and other random downloaded media from my pc that is too far away to connect currently (downstairs, upstairs, rented house issue). Since I...
