I've read that 1080i from an htpc to an hdtv can be a bit fuzzy for text and that the video is good, but 540p is fine for text. What I can't find is peoples opinion on video quality between the two. I've got a transcoder on the way and I was wondering which one of the two I want to attempt to set up through powerstrip.
thanx

The obvious answer is to try both, and see what you like more! I read one person's rule of thumb: progressive is better than interlaced, but more resolution interlaced is better than less resolution progressive. Personally, I watch DVDs upscaled to 1080i, and I feel there is a subtle but definite improvement. Stair steps in circles, for example, are less pronounced at 1080i over 480p. I can't render 540p, so so I can't compare the two directly.

Martin.
