I ordered a Brahma 15" and it took a week (Apr 29 - May 6) to ship to middle Tennessee. I have ordered Next Day Air from Adire previously and the package arrived the next day. Mike
At 70 deg F the speed of sound is about 1100 feet per second through standard air (even faster through materials of higher density than air such as iron (17000 ft/s) and wood ((oak) 5000 ft/s). I am of the opinion that one would notice the delay to be very little if you notice it at all. Take...
Why is it that the Brahma is considered to be a "car sub"?
The results that I have gotten show, to me, that it has the low end extension that we all crave without the need for "cabin gain."
Mike
Mark,
You are correct. I did need to boost the amplifier about 10-15% in order to reach the specified level. I just attributed this to the fact of the decreased sensitivity of the Brahma (87dB/W/m as opposed to 89 of that of the Tempest). The need for power is there, but from all data...
I had a dual ported 160 liter (5.75 ft^3) Tempest sub tuned to 19 Hz driven by a NHT SA-3 amplifier, but I felt that I needed a little more excursion (rather than a second Tempest - considering WAF) to faithfully reproduce the lowest frequencies with authority. So, I replaced the Tempest with a...
Clark, this program has helped me out more times than I can recall.
It's a speaker modeling program that uses either the AV8, Shiva, Tempest, or Maelstrom. It's called LspCAD for Adire, and you can get it at:

I have six feet of 20" sonotube. I am in the Manchester area (Tullahoma, specifically, 60 mi South of Nashville). Pick it up and its yours for $20.

I had a BU-2 amp blow-up.
I just installed an adire audio AVA250 with just a little modification to the original amp cutout.
I just cut out the part of the mdf where the original amp is recessed.
I hope this helps.

I am having a hard time deciding which to buy. I like the extension of the 16-46 and also the price, but the Ultra seems to be calling my name with its higher output.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike
Thank you.
I believe the NHT has an RMS value of 330W with a 4Ohm load. This is very similar to the load it is seeing with the Tempest's voice coils wired in parallel.
Thanks,
Mike
I am contemplating buying a SVS CS Ultra and would like to know if the NHT SA-3(~250W RMS @ 8 Ohm)Amplifier is adequate. I am now using the SA-3 to power a sealed 6ft^3 DIY Tempest sub that I completed several months ago. Are these two (CSU + SA-3)compatible? I have seen very little on the...
