I am contemplating buying a SVS CS Ultra and would like to know if the NHT SA-3(~250W RMS @ 8 Ohm)Amplifier is adequate. I am now using the SA-3 to power a sealed 6ft^3 DIY Tempest sub that I completed several months ago. Are these two (CSU + SA-3)compatible? I have seen very little on the SA-3 amp, but I am very impressed with its performance.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

the CS_Ultras represent a 4ohm load...so as long as the NHT amp could handle that..it should do fine with a CS_Ultra.

Thank you.

I believe the NHT has an RMS value of 330W with a 4Ohm load. This is very similar to the load it is seeing with the Tempest's voice coils wired in parallel.

Thanks,

Mike

FWIW, I run the SA-2 with my 20-39 and get wonderful results with it's 165 watts into 4 Ohms.

Trade ya!
