I just want to clearify my understanding of these 2 standards.
As far as I know, DD EX (or THX surround EX are they the same?) encodes the back surrounds into the side surrounds and the receiever retrieve it to play into the back surround.
Now DTS ES is similar to DD EX but there is now a DTS...
So would there be a significant benifit to have a THX certified receiever for movies like Star Wars Episode I?
I guess would the THX processing makes it even better than DTS-ES?
Thx,
K
But since THX certified receiver decodes Surround EX, wouldn't it sound better if playing a Surround EX encoded DVD? instead of converting it to DTS-ES? or am I just totally wrong?
Thx,
K.
Hi,
I'm trying to decide on which receiver to purchase. Here is what I'm thinking of:
Denon 4802
Onkyo 898
Integra 8.2
I have not being able to find a dealer that has the Integra 8.2 and I was wondering if anyone out there know the price for this receiver.
And I guess in terms of...
I heard from my local dealer that Sony has made many improvements this year on their rear projectors such that the HW40 model is much better than last years. Does your comment (image being softer) apply to this years model as well?
The other thing is that I noticed the Toshiba weights about...
Hi,
I was all set to get the Toshiba but now I see the Sony... there have been a lot of posts on the Toshiba but I haven't heard much about this new Sony.
What do you guys know about the Sony? Is it considered better/worse than the HX?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx,
Kevin
