Since, this is one of the most frequented areas of the forum. I'll leave this thread here for about a week and then move it to the Movies area.

Unfortunately, like every year there are some late additions such as Luise Rainer and Edward Herrmann. In a way, they live forever which is why film preservation is so important so future generations don't forget them nor the marvelous work they leave behind.

TCM started showing this about a month ago.

A much better tribute than the one on the Oscars.

Thanks Crawdaddy. I haven't been around much recently. It's good to see you're still holding down the fort for classic movie aficionados at HTF.

Marc Platt lived to be 100. Had no idea is was about 40 when he did Seven Brides for Seven Brothers . Thanks for posting.

Christopher Jones (WILD IN THE STREETS) isn't in it. Nor is Mary Ann Mobley (an Elvis leading lady!) or Ed Nelson (NIGHT OF THE BLOOD BEAST).

Three I didn't know had died: Black singer/cowboy star Herb Jeffries (HARLEM RIDES THE RANGE), who was 100; Audrey Long (BORN TO KILL, TALL IN THE SADDLE); Mary Anderson (LIFEBOAT), whom I only really became conscious of last year after seeing her play a black woman in THE UNDERWORLD STORY, an ironic piece of casting (or an egregious blunder, if you wish) considering that she'd once auditioned for the role of Scarlett O'Hara and did indeed play a southern belle in GONE WITH THE WIND. It was a part that could easily have gone to Ruby Dee, who was in Hollywood at the time (and who also died last year).
