According to another forum you can connect an EQ to this AVR. The connections I assume are the same as that for an integrated amp (thru Tape 2), but I cannot see anywhere on the Marantz where you can turn the monitoring on and off. Any suggestions?

I had an old Technics system and used the tape input on the receiver for the EQ and on the clicker it had a "Tape Monitor" button and that is what I used to activate the EQ.

Not familiar with your system but maybe your remote has a tape monitor button or something similar.

Just a thought

Rick, I don't think you can use an EQ with that Marantz receiver because as you've realized, there is no tape monitor feature. Very few modern receivers have that feature that can accommodate any kind of external processing, now that the use of EQs and tape recorders, especially the three-head type, has become unpopular. What are you hoping to accomplish with EQ anyway ?
