Pioneer SC-65 - No audio through ARC (1 Viewer)

Hello all,
I have connected my LG Smart TV's ARC HDMI port to the HDMI OUT 1 (Control) port of my SC-65 through a Hi-speed HDMI cable. Have changed the speaker setting on the TV to "External Speaker". The TV's volume control now changes the volume level on the receiver. However there is no sound from the speakers (the input setting on the received is "TV"). What am I missing?

Interestingly, another thing I noticed - when I stop or navigate out of AV content on the Smart TV (for example exit the Netflix app) - that turns off the receiver too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Nobody likes ARC for other reason.Requires CEC to be on. Which is causing the undesirable side effect.

Thank you all. It helps to know that I shouldnt have high expectations from ARC. :)
Only thing is that it worked for 3-4 months initially and then I dont know if I did something but the audio stopped working. Thanks all
