Dyn-o-mite! Columbia has announced Good Times - The Complete 2nd Season is coming to DVD early next year. The entire second season of this sitcom classic (starring Emmy Award winner Esther Rolle and Emmy-nominated actor John Amos) will soon be available to own on DVD. Produced by legendary TV producer Norman Lear, in a series where both David Letterman and Jay Leno served as contributing writers!
Presented in full-screen video, this 3-disc set will provide you with over 600 minutes of classic laughs. Look for it on February 3rd. How much will it set you back? List price is just $29.95!

Good news for my best friend - he really loves this series, and like last year, it comes out right before his birthday...

Fabulous price point here for the Season Two Box. (Works out to about 87 cents per episode! Not half bad.)

(Wonder what's the "Best Value Per Episode" on all current TV-on-DVD products?? Hmmmm. Perhaps David Lambert would know. Researching this should only take a few years. :D)

I just hope all the episodes are uncut. This is a Columbia TriStar release after all.
Has this been a problem with Columbia's earlier releases?

Seems to me we've gotten "full" uncut eps. on Good Times #1.

And I know that the "All In The Family" sets are uncut. In fact, when compared to the same eps. on the 10-Pack VHS put out a few years ago, there's a major increase in # of minutes on the DVDs! Not just one, but several scenes (or parts thereof) included on the AITF DVD sets are absent on the VHS copies, including (always) the "epilogue" portions at the end.

Yes, but Sanford & Son, Soap, and Forever Knight have had cut-down episodes accidentally put onto the discs and they have not even addressed the problem.

This is good news, I really got in to this show and the Season 1 release. Now we wait for All in the Family and Jeffersons s. 3, and to be honest that's fine with me because with all the TV product coming out in January and February I'll be busy enough as it is.

Gee, that's not a good situation. :frowning:

I wouldn't have any knowledge of any of those you mentioned (above), as I have no real interest in any of those series.

Well, since we list the number of episodes in each set on the site, and the SRP, I could use that information to do a cost per episode based on those two variables. I'm going to guess that it would be one of these bargain titles that contains public domain material.

Well, yeah...that's quite obviously going to be true --- the lousy-quality 10 episodes of XXX for $4.99. :D

But what I meant was TV releases besides the proverbial "not remastered or cleaned up in any way Public Domain" choices.

Of course, I really couldn't care less, but I thought it might result in a kind of nice piece of "HTF useless trivia". :D

Thanks anyway.
