Mine won't for the life of me ! It does playback however.I just don't get it. Been moving cables around all day, no recording.
My Sony SLV-N81 Hi-Fi VCR only has Composite jacks. Does this mean I can only use composite jack between the Hughes gcebo dolby dig sat receiver ? Is it best to go directly through my Panny ct27-sx12 TV or can I use the Pioneer VSX-D912 to do the switching ? I currently have my DVD hooked up through the receivers component jacks in and out. And am using the Video 2 Tv to play the S-video satellite picture.
There must be a simpler way, I've probably danced around it all day.

Your thoughts please !

To record from a source device such as a cable or sat. box plugged into the VCR composite input jack, you must select the proper VCR "channel" which may be "A/V" or "camera" or "channel 1".

Then choose one of these:
1. Connect the VCR composite out into an unused input bank of the TV, if the bank has both a composite and S-video jack the S-video jack has to be empty. The VCR audio outs may be connected either to the same input bank of the TV or to your A/V receiver.
2. Connect the VCR composite out and audio outputs into an input bank of your A/V receiver and also connect a cable from the A/V receiver composite out to an unused input bank of the TV.
3. Connect the antenna out of the VCR to the antenna input jack of the TV, no additional audio cables needed. Tune the TV to channel 3 or 4, whichever the VCR output was set to. Set the VCR TV/VCR selection to "VCR".

Allan,

Thanks for the good advise. I did a very similar hookup. Check out gvibes.com and go to the how to hookup hometheatre.
Very easy setups with diagrams. WORKED for me.
