This makes me soo freaking jealous. How come God makes some people like you, knows constuction, electrical and the like. Then God makes some people....ME!!
Anyway, it looks excellent man, your doing a wonderful job. I'd hire ya!
How's the whole fabric on the wall thing work? I've always wondered about that. Like how does it hold up to scratches or if you have to nail something up later? I think I'm too careless to have fabric on the walls.
Yes Brian I will post some pics tonight. I hope to have the screen up .
Hey Lemarcus---I dont know, I guess I just get the plans in my head and then just do it. I did make mistakes along the way, but nothing major and the only one who can see where the minor flaws are is ME
Well the wallfabric is prety durable and small nail holes will not show up very much, but if you were to put in a larger hole, it would be very hard to patch. The stuff is pretty durable though
Great job steve.....looks like it will be ready in time for Monday Night Football(Packers that is). I am getting my HDTV installed again tomorrow for the football season...can't wait. Keep posting those pics and great work.
How do you like the H77. Optoma delayed the H76 for so long that I think that a lot of people just gave up on it coming out and then the H77 came out. Did you compare it with other HD2+ projectors?
Thanks guys, its pretty exciting now, that the work is almost complete
Well I just couldnt wait for the carpet install tomorrow, so I went ahead and put the screen up on the frame.
I have a 119" Da-lite CV screen with the velvet border. I love the border, it eats any extra light and you cant even tell.
Well the H77 on the 119" screen, looked great. I watched Starwars II in HD for about 10 mins, Star Trek First contact also in HD for about 10mins and Entrapment on DVD through the iScanHD SDI output.
The colors were solid, the screen door could not be seen by me after 7ft(first row of seating at 16'). There were no rainbows for me.
I also watched Discovery HD of a flower garden and I mean I thought I was there )
I did also watch the news on normal digital output and it looked good.
I will try to take some Screen shots this weekend, but have never done that before, so we will see
The bad thing was I went up stairs and watched the rest of the news on my 57" HDTV and it looked like I was watching a 13" TV, hehehehehe.
Congrats Steve, there have been a large number of us who have been watching your project come to fruition with awe and amazement. I hope you enjoy finally getting your "play time" with it this weekend. Unfortunately, here in the Tampa, FL area, we're bracing for our third hurricane in the past month, and this one looks like a doozy, so we won't get much play time, ourselves. Heck, maybe we'll evacuate up to Milwaukee and catch the pre-grand opening!
Thanks Stephen....Yes I just was reading that on MSN. the winds have picked up to 160. WOW that is a huge storm, maybe it will miss Florida this time.
The only time we feel the effects of a hurricane, is when they hit new orleans area and come straight north. By then its only a 50-60 mph winds tropical strom.
I also changed my mind and went with the RX-Z9 instead of the Lexicon RV-8.
4 reasons:
1)Lexicon is still weeks away from delivery and around the 5K+ mark 2)Got the Yamaha for 3600 shipped next day(just picked it up an hour ago) 3)Needed to save a little money 4)The Z9 was my first choice anyway since I have had the DSP3090A since 96 and the RV-750 from 91 and both worked flawlessly
Is the lexicon a better unit? probably, but hasnt been tested yet and before I made the decision, I read a 20+ pages review of the Z9
The carpet install and the furniture are coming this afternoon. I am so frickin exicted
I am excited for you. I was talking about the Star Wars release with my sister and got goose bumps. I will wait to see it in our new theater - probably November time frame when it will be operational.
Once the wife went upstairs to get ready for bed, I put in Star Trek and brang the system to 10db past Reference and my hair on my arms stood up, it was frickin AWESOME. I doubt I will be going to movie theaters much anymore.
Congrats - You really outdid yourself. What an unbelievable attribute to have the vision, know how, work ethic, and yeah....some healthy cabbage to invest in top gear in one package.
I foresee many enjoyable nights at how and I'm not even a soothsayer.
You da man!!!
Next pic needs to be of you in the sweet spot with token beverage in hand.
Looks Great, good luck. All I have left for my HT is to go HD, My tv is HD but I'm still using regular satellite. hopefully will go HD before football is over (GO VIKINGS). My HT
