I went to a show on Wednesday night, general admission, I waited all day to be front for Bruce Springsteen. Presumably all the people around me waited all day too. Person behind me would not shut up or stop playing with his phone for the entire 3+ hour show. I just don't get putting in the time and effort to wait outside in the cold all day, then wait standing in an enclosed area for a couple hours, only to stop paying attention the second the concert begins. And since the face value of the ticket was $150, not cheap either.

Back in the 70s, a guy like that would've ended up head first in a trash can.

A bit older, before cell-phones became the big annoyance.

Turned out well. Actually got a woman thrown out of a Garth Brooks concert. All she did was scream, over and over again. Nobody on stage, show hadn't even started, she just screamed, annoying everyone around her. There was actually applause when the security guy escorted her away.

Yeah, I was the grouchy guy sitting in front of her who complained. But wow, truly excited, high, maybe mental illness. She needed to leave and it was a great show once she was gone.

I forgot to mention - the guy behind me who was playing with his phone and talking the whole time? He flew over from Europe to be at that show. I have no idea what a plane ticket from Europe to NYC costs, but that can't be cheap. Throw in hotel and local travel expenses too. That's a lot of time and effort and money to throw towards something you're not going to pay attention to.

Slight baffles.

While at the local club pool I had to chuckle at all the adults (with and without kids in tow) who you'd think showed up to enjoy the sunny warm afternoon and maybe a dip in the pool, but instead 95% of them plopped down in their chairs and spent pretty much every second of time staring at their phone. I'd see their kids saying "come on dad..get in!!" and dad just sat starting at the phone.

Second baffle, and maybe I'm old fashioned, but I sort of shook my head watching a couple of moms sit in the pool with their young kids all the while ordering heavy duty "adult beverages" over and over again. Is that the norm?

Do you have kids? They'll cause you to drink heavily! :)

Baffling:

When it's rainy, thick fog in place, and folks driving around with NO lights on. Common sense folks, you want other cars to be able to see YOU, turn on your lights! :)

That people actually drink buttermilk willingly.

Both my parents did, but none of the kids went there.
Totally forgot about this thread, so this is a bit behind....

My grandfather drank buttermilk. Not a chance I could do it. Excellent way to become bulimic if you're so inclined. Pukeville USA.

I'm baffled at the sheer amount of money people (IMO) spend on really bad movies (I mean recent box office failures.Rotten Tomato dogs, stuff nobody would want to see even once). I mean I can see if you bought them on a whim for $4 on DVD at the Walmart, but to spend $25+ each for them on 4K?? Wow is all I can say.

Mismanagement. Complain and get a gift card, or at least a free meal.
Definitely complain. As I've gotten older I don't tolerate bad service like I used to.

Restaurants, grocery stores, etc. will bend over backward to keep you as a customer. I get coupons and refunds all the time, just don't put up with bad products anymore.

Scored the mega jumbo refund when a store sent me a $300 gift card after bad service a few years ago. That was certainly unexpected, but I'm still a customer, so guess it worked.

Agree, I don't let poor service get a pass. I usually let the company know when they or their people offer subpar service.

My biggest score was when a Best Buy manager totally botched up some gift card deal. One of those deals where you get a BB girst card if you buy something. I can't recall the whole transaction but in the end I think I got a total of $500 back on gift cards (part in person at store and other cards via mail). Way more than I was supposed to have.

I called customer service to explain and the guy who took the call was very nice. He dug into the whole mess, took him 2 days, he finally called back and told me to keep the cards and spend them as I wished, it was a big mess and he said something along the lines of it being easier to write off than try to correct. I had him email me a note acknowledging that (he did) and I went on a shopping spree that week. :)

I have been to taco bell when they ran out of beef. KFC once ran out of chicken here. How do they do that?

KFC is constantly out of chicken. I finally stopped going there about ten years ago.

You want a 10 piece meal, but they only have two pieces of crispy, maybe four regular, etc. so you have to mix & match or wait 20 minutes for a new batch. I actually waited once and they sold it to somebody in the drive-thru. Am I the "Invisible Man"?

They gave me a free Coke for my waiting.

Last time I ever went there.

Amazing the place is still running. It's been there since I was a kid back in the '70s, so somebody's buying from them.

Baffle doesn't even begin to describe them. How can a business keep going for 40+ years with such awful service.

Agree. Must be universal. All our KFC's are horribly run. RUDE employees all of which act like they couldn't care less about you or working there.

I, too, had forgotten about this thread, but then again, I have no current bafflements.

I remembered it existed, and had one come up a couple days ago for which I was going to dig up this thread. Now that it's revived, I can't remember what was baffling me.

I was baffled as to why the "Things That Annoy You" thread was re-named.

Things that "annoy" vs. "Baffle" you are TOTALLY different in nature. Hence the two threads. :)
