Looks bogus to me. The UPC given says it is just the normal widescreen version.

Why bother with an extended version of this anyway?

Um, I'm just saying, but I would seriously doubt that one guy on ebay who says he has a Region 1 "extended" cut DVD has access to some other cut of AVP. $10,000 says that he's just referring to the 1 minute prologue.

The 137 minutes probably just refers to the total length of the movie + featurettes.

Being a longtime Alien & Predator fan, I wouldn't mind seeing it! I'd like to see what they edited out. It's obvious that this film was severely chopped for theatrical release.

In its current form, AvP is in my top 10 worst films I've ever seen - so an extended cut couldn't hurt - on 2nd thought, maybe it could...No way there could be any dialog or story points to make that steaming pile make sense.

this auction is the regular already released version of the movie.

i cant find anything there that says it's 137 mins, unless i just missed it.
i did see this.

" Theatrical Version of Feature (101:00)
Commentary by Paul Thomas Anderson, Lance Henriksen and Sanaa Lathan
Commentary by Alec Gillis, Tom Woodruff Jr. and John Bruno
Alternate Opening Version of Feature (102:00) "

If AVP is one of the top 10 worst films you've ever seen, you really need to see more movies. Being a martial arts movie fan, I recently rented Blood Fist...now that is one of the worst films I have ever seen.

No, but R-rated level violence wouldn't be a step in the wrong direction...

Anyway, hasn't it been roundly confirmed all up and down the Internet that Anderson was lying when he said that he had shot footage for an R-rated/unrated cut, that the PG-13 is the most we'll see?

Why would R-rated violence be an improvement?

Characters are portrayed through their actions as well as their words. Since the Predators and Aliens are incapable (mostly) of human speech the only true character work that can be done with them is through their actions.

And up till AvP their actions included intense violence.

Ernest,

It isn't godawful. As light entertainment it works fairly well, but lacks the same tight suspence that the earlier Alien movies had. This one seems to be firmly in the Predator style of being a thrill ride.

Rented it on Netflix this week. While it wasn't anything that great, it wasn't the worst movie I've seen by any stretch. Just a giant missed opportunity really.
