So how does one get the Toshiba update CD if they don't own the player? Can the software be downloaded from Toshiba by anyone, and then burned to CD or DVD?

Looks like the link I posted was not valid, but the image should be somewhere in the net.

Found it actually, if you need one, send PM and I will upload it to easily accessible server.

There are several free hosting sites that currently have the ISO/NRG image files available for download (Toshiba does not provide them directly - :frowning: ). The image must be burned to a CD-R. A DVD will NOT work. You then make sure you have the player turned on and connected to your display, load the disc in the player, and initiate the update from the setup menu.

You can do that now from here. You'll have to create an account, but it is under downloads. Right now, the RCA will be looking for the RCA server when you try to update from the net. Once you've made this update, it will essentially be a Toshiba with an RCA case and will connect to Toshiba's servers from here on out in case of future updates.
