It is a such a frequently recurring theme in so many versions of these and the female almost always says OK.
A good suspenseful story (based on Fritz Lieber's The Conjure Wife), as much psychological as supernatural, but without giving too much away, the wife's protecting his ass here. Shot in great contrast black & white deliberately in 1962, as well, which really amps up the feel of a feature length Twilight Zone episode.
