Model: Z623 2.1

The right speaker has a power button and is a VGA connector. When it's turned on, the subwoofers would hum at 60hz and the speakers would produce static. regardless of whether or not the system's plugged into my laptop.

Observed stuff:

a) there's a headphone jack on the right speaker, however there's no output through the headphones when plugged in, it would play through the laptop's built in speakers. However, the humming does disappear completely.

However, if you plug another normal music cord between the laptop and that speaker, and then plug in the headphones as well, it plays through the headphones.

Any solutions to eliminate this hum?

Are you sure you have the laptop connected to the sub correctly? It should be connected to the top 1/8" plug. The bottom 1/8" plug goes to the left speaker. I ask because if connect correctly the laptop's speakers should never produce sound; it should be either the Logitech or the headphones.

yeah there's only 1 green 1/8" plug wire that comes with the package, and i can either plug it into the speakers (there's a port there) or the subwoofer directly from my laptop.

The problem is, regardless of whether its plugged in anything or not, it still produces this high pitched static and hums if you put your ear next to it.

Will Hum X solve this problem?

P.S. I realize when I plug in another 2.1 system it also hums, would it be a problem with my household electric works?

I'm pretty sure the system requires two 1/8" cables, one from the laptop to the sub. and one from the sub to the left speaker.

But yes, humming can be caused by a ground loop. If you're sure the speakers are connected correctly, you can try plugging the sub into an outlet on a different circuit.
