Quick tip:

When you're doing the Baron's dead dumpster-baby escort mission, and the fetus starts getting agitated, cast Axii on it to calm it down; otherwise you'll be in for a huge-ass, impossible battle against a fucking goddamn giant 10-foot-high dumpster-baby.

Took about three reloads before this finally occurred to me. At least from all this there's basically a whole new paradigm of epic "dead baby" jokes that can now be told by bards across the land.

I bought this today as my first outing into the world of The Witcher. Unfortunately I dislike it a good deal and will sell it fast to recoup most of my money.

There are just too many negatives in this game for me to care about it. Gameplay is mediocre(the combat is almost identical to a game I hated: Two Worlds 2)

The dialogue is frequent which is fine if I cared about the story...which I really do not...at all. The music is wretched. Completely uninspired, and often irritating. A Braveheart type score that is well orchestrated, but no spark or imagination in the composition. I turned the music off in the settings.

Also for an "open world" game It sure feels quite linear in my quests. Never being able to stray too far from the beaten path.

I love fantasy games. Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma, and Skyrim(any of the Elder Scrolls games) are some of my favorites. It makes me sad when I try hard to find reasons to recommend, or like Witcher 3 but just can't. I will say it is a gorgeous looking game though.

That is one pretty game!

@Bryan. It took me a bit to like The Witcher. One thing that keeps me coming back is the Hammer Horror feel. I hope that lasts throughout the series. Judging by the above, it DOES!

I was told by a friend(he got it for his X box One) to stick with it. He was unimpressed at first but now totally addicted. And I have not traded it in at GameStop yet. I will most likely devote another couple hours to it. If the game doesn't connect with me at that point then I will part with it.

I plan to pick this up during the upcoming Steam sale. I was never able to play Witcher 2 because I couldn't get past the tutorial; it was too hard using the keyboard and mouse, and the game had no controller support. I'm very much looking forward to this 26Gb download...

O...M...G, I LOVE this game! I still want to say that I love Skyrim more, but I'm not so sure anymore. I love almost everything about it.

EXTREMELY SLIGHT POSSIBLE SPOILER:

Anyone who says they "saw it coming " during secondary quest where you go to pick up the "placards" from the guy whose name is an anagram of Lautrec (cute touch) is a liar...

I'm nowhere near completing the main game, but do I want to splurge on Blood & Wine to get those real Gwent cards? Or do I just wait for the appears-to-be-in-the-works physical game release?

Decisions. . .

I've been playing this for about a month and can not stop thinking about it. I'm obessesed with all the "?", it's taking me ages to do anything. I've not left Verden or whatever it's called, still not fully completed "Family Matters", though I got his Quent card.

Just curious, how did you all go about with alchemy and all the exploring? I'm OBSESSED with looting everything, but I'm thinking I should get off my ass and actually complete quests and what not, only hitting "?" that are close by. Some of them start witcher contracts that I've not gotten from notice boards yet and are much higher than my level. I don't think you can mess anything up, but I'm not sure.

I do a quest (quest at my level or lower) then look around the immediate area for "?" and handle those then move on to the next quest. I'm still in Novagrad. My problem is the stupid card game. I don't really get it and need to google how to win this game so I can get the cards needed from everybody.

I used this guide to get my head around Gwent. There's still the hard person to go against in Novagrad/Velen (I've not taken the boats to the other worlds yet, but this guide helped me to understand so I can at least try to win. The main trick is to try to recover/get more cards than your opponent by throwing rounds and using Spys/Decoys, I think?
