I like how 007.com makes mention of the fact that the steelbooks are of the films the feature Spectre and yet they leave out Dr. No which introduces the organization (Dr. No is even mention as an agent in one of the steelbooked films)...

The speculation is that these are films featuring Blofeld, but of course, that would mean they'd have to officially acknowledge that it's Blofeld in For Your Eyes Only, right?

Fox/MGM maybe left off Dr. No, because they knew they couldn't live up to what Fritz created back in 2012.

I like this one. I never bought the Bonds. I'll wait for the inevitable Black Friday sales, or the next Prime Day (snicker,snicker...)

Yeah , I thought the same thing regarding FYEO ;)

Maybe the box should come with a stainless steel delicatessen.

The digital bits confirmed these are not new transfers. I guess new transfers will be saved for uhd blu ray when bond 25 hits theaters....

I noticed that the discs use the same art as the bond 50 set too.

I like that they changed the disc art of Skyfall to match. Would be nice if the changed the menu for that and Quantum as well.

I have the current set, but am pining for Everything or Nothing, so if this ever drops to about $99 I could see myself biting...

Well, now that the legal issues have been settled, there's no reason for them not to acknowledge it.

Are those two new featurettes included on each of the discs? If so, that would mean that these are all new pressings, at least; maybe the menus for Quantum and Skyfall will match this time.

To be honest, all I would really want is a new master for Goldeneye (along with the full-length teaser), a fixed mono track for Goldfinger that doesn't fade out at the end, and having the earthquake shake in A View to a Kill restored. Little things, but they bug me. Everything else, I'm pretty okay with.

Same discs and transfers from before.

I'm guessing there is a new bonus features disc with everything or nothing and the 2 new "featurettes".

It was already changed, actually. When they started including the Skyfall disc in the Bond 50 set, the artwork was changed to match the other discs. Not sure about the menus, though.

My quantum of solace disc in the bond 50 set was defective. Amazon was great about helping me. I ended up picking up another copy of quantum for $4 at best buy. The disc artwork was identical to the set disc. The menu is the same as the original quantum of solace blu ray as well.

My Quantum in the Bond 50 was defective also - discovered it at least a year after I bought the set, and amazingly, Fox's customer service replaced it. (I had bought it from Best Buy and had long since lost the receipt so they weren't able to help.)

I'd upgrade for new transfers without the squeezing on the title sequences. Would also be interested if they finished upgrading the making-of documentaries to HD (which they only did on about half of the discs in the set). And I like some of this new packaging better than the others, but I'm not rebuying the same discs for packaging anymore.

That said, kinda digging the look of the OHMSS steelpack. Not enough to get it, but it's still pretty sweet looking.

With how home video is done these days I think we are going to be stuck with "featurettes" and the days of really great film docs is over. John cork did amazing work on the James Bond extras. I don't think he will ever be approached to finish upconverting them to hd. It is a bummer.

I like the covers too but I don't really need extra packaging.

Seems like what most of us are saying here (updated or 4k transfers equals a new purchase) is being echoed in the 30th anniversary back to the future blu ray thread too.

I don't have the old set, so would happily consider this one, but not for $209.99. We'll see when/if the price drops.

I don't begrudge the studios for doing this, so long as they're clear about what you're getting - and by confirming that they're the same discs as before and not leaving it as guesswork, I think Fox/MGM is doing right by the consumer (or at the least, not doing anything wrong). People used to buy the exact same comic book multiple times because there would be different versions of the cover, so this sort of repackaging just seems like the 21st century version of that. I don't have Back To The Future on Blu at all, so if the release of the new set causes the old set to go onsale at a great price, or if the new one is heavily discounted at some point, I may jump in.

Agreed. They get 2 releases on the transfers before they do new ones.
With the current transfers they are actually 10+ years old as they were prepped for casino royals a release. They were released on DVD and then blu ray in 2008. Same transfer work on most of them however a few were adjusted. Spy and goldeneye spring to mind.

You want to know the other strange thing about this set? It's an Amazon exclusive and unless Amazon joins UV/Digital HD, the codes it comes with aren't redeemable on it's own site...

I don't have the Bond 50 set, but I am excited for the practical packaging so I may have to jump!
