Chris, thanks.
Looks like STARFLEET and Raytheon are next up.
STARFLEET has a lot of members - 314. While slower than we are, at 16h27m per unit average vs 11h53m for HTF, given the extra people we may not catch them, unless we have a huge influx of people... or we just happen to have a lot more 'slaves', which don't count into that member total.
Raytheon, OTOH, has 151 members; we have 159, and they run 14h56m. It is possible - they're only ahead by 1700 units according to the Top 200 page.

I finally reached a long awaited personal Seti goal over the weekend -- I broke into the top 10,000 of all Seti users! Of the 2,844,391 total Seti users, I'm currently ranked 9986th and have completed more units than 99.649% Seti users. Woo hoo! I believe I shall celebrate this evening with a lovely adult beverage. :)

Congratulations Chris!! That's fantastic!
My current, personal, goal is to reach the 99th percentile. As of this morning I'm at 98.834%. I've returned 1561 work units which puts me at #33130 out of 2844391. There are 34 other users who share this position with me. :)

Good going Chris. It looks like you will be passing me up sooner than I would like. I just lost my job, so all of my clients are gone, excepet the ones I run at home. Wish me luck in finding a new one.

Jeff, sorry about your job.
The top 20 HTF users now have over 2000 WUs.
Right now I'm in position 21 chasing Micah Lloyd... Hopefully I'll pass him be the end of next week (all my slaves will be down the week after, but will come back the week after that).

I finally got off my lazy butt this weekend and installed "SETI Driver" and "SETI Spy" on both my home and work PC's. Installation and configuration was a snap.
I've got it set up with a Cache of 10 WU's at this point. How many WU's are most other folks caching?

I have a cache of 10 units on my office computer because it has a full time connection to the internet so if the Seti server is down, it will normally have the full 10 in reserve. My home computer uses a modem connection, so I keep a cache of 15 units since I download units only once a week.

There hasn't been any updates to this thread in a while, so I thought I'd share:
Just passed 2000 WUs this morning. Woohoo! I'm still trailing Micah--but should break into the top 20 by the end of the week.
Yay me!

Congrat's Mike! I'm getting closer and closer to my current objective ... as of this evening I'm at the 98.905th percentile. My current objective is to reach the 99th percentile. Once I've reached that, then I'll figure out a new goal.

Congratulations Mike. After sneaking up on Paul for the past few months, I managed to squeek by him this weekend and have now moved up to #7. I shall quaff a lovely adult beverage in celebration. Next goal - 4000 units.

I mentioned this weeks ago, but now I really need to figure out why I'm NOT adding units. My hour rate has frozen, and my rank is going south. Perhaps I need to unsubscribe and then rejoin. Haven't even seen SETI on my screensaver in months.

I've been doing great the last few days, but when I woke up this morning I noticed that a couple of my slaves were stuck. When I checked the Seti status page it said that the server was unavailable, but when it showed online again I tried my local machine and still no go. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

Paul, I had the same problem. I think the server was getting swamped on the work unit process but actually was able to deal with the web requests (for stats and the like). I finally managed to return my work unit this afternoon, but it took a couple of hours longer before I could retrieve a new one.

Hello, I joined tonight. named schlitz100
Is there a way to use SETI@HOME on a computer with no net connection at all? Can you put WU's on a floppy or CD-RW?
Thanks

Hi Jason, welcome to the team!
Sure it's possible. In fact I ran some units off of floppy for a few machines. You will have to connect somehow (another machine) to DL the work unit to begin with, and also to upload the results after it's processed.
I know there are some proggies out there that will save multiple work units and process them all before attempting to upload the results, but I'm not sure what's available. Check the links on the Setiathome site for the details.
Good luck!

I've just passed 2500 units and MattB who unfortunately has remained idle all this time. And for the moment I'm in front of Mike Serrano, we've been leapfrogging for a couple of weeks now but I recently added more horsepower that may give me the advantage.

It wasn't really a challenge, Mike. I'm just trying to stay in the top 20. I've got one P3-850, two P3-800's, about seven Celeron 500+, and one P2-350 going. The Celerons are office desktops running the screen saver (in blank screen mode of course), the rest run the command line client around the clock. I have three dual-P3-700's that I could add to the mix but they aren't connected to the network and probably have no idle cycles to spare.
There's also a completely idle P3-Xeon-866 that I could add but it also isn't connected and I think it's going to pick up the modem and call corporate headquarters to tattletale if I so much as look at it. (Corporate has not yet started using this new system.)
The rest of the 50+ computers here are vintage Pentium classic. They'll be replaced when they die and not a moment before. Ever see a 486dx2-66 running Windows NT Server?
