Tragic in every sense of the word. Fine actor and sounds as if he was a solid guy as well from what his co-workers and fans have stated. His "breakdown" in Prince of the City is one moment that showed how convincing he could be as a actor.

Sad news to hear. When I was in high school I used to watch him in The Substitute 2 when it was on TV which was on quite a bit. The movie isn’t the best but he was quite good in it. Always like him.

The prosecutor has to meet a high bar to prove the charges that have been brought against the driver. Under Vermont law the driver must not only have been negligent, but "engaged in conduct that involved a gross deviation from the care that a reasonable person would have exercised in that situation."

So unless the prosecutor is just trying to make a name for him or her self off of a high profile case, there has to be more than the driver just being distracted by his radio dial or something. I'm guessing they subpoenaed his cellphone records and can prove he was texting while driving.

I didn't know prior to reading this that the driver actually knew Williams. This accident was already terrible, but that makes it even worse.

Because it happened so close by, the case has been a major ongoing story on the local news in my area.

I'm glad the driver took responsibility, and I'm impressed and moved by the grace and empathy shown by Williams's son and wife.
