That was a hell of a dress Dixon was wearing.

And a hell of a brawl with the biker gang at the end of the episode. Plus - Finlay!

Viewed episode four earlier this morning. The series is still holding up strong. I can't say that it happens every episode, but it always seems like an episode ends with Reacher making a strong declarative sentence. This episode was no exception. :) Will he get what he wants? Seems likely.

Robert's last post has me wondering about the possibility of someone on the team working for the bad guys. I have some thoughts / speculation on that topic that I will spoiler. Please feel free to ignore this...

Neagley seems unlikely given her work in Margrave plus the fact that she can afford to fund Reacher in season two. O'Donnell is too much of a family man to risk losing everything. Swann is a 'red herring', particularly after the flashback in episode four. That leaves Dixon, who will betray Reacher and break his heart just a little bit.

OK. I have been enjoying S2 a lot.

It appears Reacher is a bit too sentimental about someone who took a bullet for him before, but maybe not.

However, episode 5 had 1 galactic level failure which is just piss poor writing. The truck hijack. So get this.

The truck loaded with $65M of armaments:
1) has just a driver,
2) has no escort (OK, maybe because of dirty dealings)
3) is going to stop to help someone and be good samaritan when there are 3 guys who should be able to deal with their situation in the era of cell phones?

Hell no.

On a scale of 1-10, the unbelievability of that scene for me was 412.

I also thought it was pathetically written that when the 2 pursuing find the 2 trucks stopped they sit in the car discussing it for 30 seconds instead of immediately taking action. You are pursuing a truck and when you find it and see 3 guys who are hijacking it you just sit there? They should have immediately slowed and pulled behind the nearest truck instead of driving into the middle of it, or drove past and then taken action.

I would agree with Phillip's critique of the truck hijack in episode 5. It felt like the events were written to provide the desired outcome - Bad guys get away and our heroes are unable to stop the heist or maintain pursuit. Essentially contrived. I didn't break it down mentally at the time of the viewing, but I remember feeling like it was a bit "off".

Still enjoying the series quite a bit, but yeah it is genre television in a lot of ways. Which is okay, as long as you don't examine it too critically. :)

Viewed episode six earlier this evening. We are getting into the home stretch for season two and there were more twists and turns in the plot. In some ways this episode felt like a throwback to the '80s with certain elements, including a confrontation with a corrupt individual and the final scene with Jack Reacher doing his best Martin Riggs' impersonation firing his pistol at a fleeing helicopter, after someone on the chopper had fired an automatic weapon at Reacher.

Perhaps I misinterpreted the final moments of the episode, but I believe the fate of one of the characters was left in the balance. Hopefully we will get some sort of resolution on that plot element in episode seven.

Earlier this year I speculated on who might be a bad actor in Reacher's team...

I had theorized that Dixon was dirty and episode six really cemented that notion for me. If Burns is to be believed then Swann was trying to stop the weapons sale. Dixon had a very pensive look on her face after her romantic interlude with Reacher, where the camera focuses on her face with Reacher in the background. That felt like the episode was subtlety informing on Dixon's true nature. Of course I could be wrong.

I think that character’s fate was decided. I agree with your speculation on a possible bad actor in Reacher’s team.

What time are they supposed to be up? Is it 7 PM local? I know they weren't up around 5 CST for me. When I got home the wife was watching E5. E6 was on later, but I didn't note what time.

I liked this episode a lot. It definitely took some turns and twists. The only thing I didn't like is that Reacher hasn't managed to resolve weapon issues yet, or at least upgrade off foes he drops.

One of the oldest truisms in gun fighting (culture) is you use your pistol until you can find something better. Also at this point or rather early in the next episode they should know who and where that chopper is operating from. There is an exceptionally dense air corridor throughout NY. I would argue they could have also asked for data from previous flights where the bodies were dropped. Now its most likely that the IFF transponders were pulled from the chopper.

Also, after the detective was shot, it boggles the mind that Reacher's team would not have 1st aid gear in their vehicles. They would each own IFAKs (Individual First Aid Kit) and have them somewhere. Oh, and hey, that's a police car right next to you that has one in the trunk. Ack.

I love Reacher and the books are great fun (at least before Andrew Child started working on them). After seeing Ritchson as Reacher, I picture him when I read the books and cannot accept Tom Cruise at all anymore.

I just feel like Ritchson does his best acting...elsewhere. He's perfect but I always feel like he's acting. Meanwhile, I was thrilled with him in Fast X.

I also feel like the fights aren't as hard hitting as the first season. Reacher is a BRUTAL fighter and it feels toned down in some episodes. But I love the cast this year and am jazzed about season 3. Bad Luck and Trouble was a great book and since the Reacher novels are largely the same thing, I forgot how it plays out, having read a half dozen on the last year alone. :D

And damn, Ritchson is BIGGER this year than last year. How much can an adult make grow? And how do I accomplish it????

The only other thing I've seen him in is Titans, in which he played Hawk (of the team Hawk and Dove). Thought he was good in that. And this. He won't give Daniel Day-Lewis sleepless nights, but he's a fine action star.

Watching a few moments from the finale during a You Tube video today and my initial impression appears to have been mistaken concerning Russo. Damn!

Another thought concerning who might be bad on the team...

Dixon tells Reacher that he doesn't have to kill Swann; that she will do it. What better way to cover your tracks than silencing the individual that you want to take the fall?
