That's the politically correct version of "Indian Leg Wrestling"?
Russell,
I think Radioman's term (arm-wrestling) might be closer to that. Jiu-jitsu is ground-fighting (grappling), similar in some ways to wrestling except that you don't pin your opponent, you submit them (via arm bars, kimuras, triangle chokes, etc.). But I'm guessing that you knew this already. :)

Just giving everyone an update. I don't want you to think I've forgotten or ignored you guys.
I'm just waiting back from Adam about the DVD's. He's been busy. When I get word I'll let you know.
Are we going to do a Christmas/New Years challenge?

Might as well. Since no thread could be as big as this one, perhaps we can just have one thread for the entire year. If we do a Christmas, Valentine or whatever else. Perhaps just one home thread. Various mini-challenges leading up to the Horror/Scary/Complain/Monster one.

The only thing with a Christmas challenge is that my TV will outdo my movies.
My movies only consist of
Christmas Carol 3D
Nightmare Before Christmas 3D
The Ref
Christmas Story
N.L. Christmas Vacation
MST3K versions of Santa Claus and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
I still haven't bought Home Alone 1 & 2 on bluray.
I guess Die Hard can count as a Christmas movie?

Hopefully people will just have fun with it and not feel the need to complain about what others are watching so the TV stuff is fine. :)
The SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT remake comes out on 11/30 so that's another one that can be viewed.
I need to go through all four DIE HARD films for the 5th one coming up, although I guess only the first two take place on/around Christmas?
I also need to check Youtube and see if there were any made-for-TV Christmas films from the 70s.

If you have Epix online or on your ipad they have the Christmas horror movie "Dead End" (2003)
I'm totally going to have fun with this challenge as I have ritual viewings of Mr. Bean Christmas special and Office Christmas episodes.

I'm really not a Christmas fan, but I usually pull out "Christmas Evil" to watch over the holidays.

It sounds good to me, but the more I thought about it, there just aren't enough movies I can watch to make it worth it to me anyway. I do have many, many Christmas tv episodes on dvd that I can watch, but I have always favored feature films in the movie challenges.
I'm really on the fence about it.
Christmas films are nowhere near the number of horror movies available on dvd, and I'm sure that is why the annual Scary Movie Challenge is such a hit each, and every year.

Well, I'm going to start one soon.
I started the very first Christmas challenge.
People liked it but no one bothered to continue the tradition.
I'll keep people posted what will be playing the entire month of Dec.
I just made my list of everything I'll be watching.
TV really out weighs the movies, but I love watching Christmas TV episodes.
I say just have fun with this one and don't keep a point total.
Just rate your movies.
Talk about the movies or TV episodes.
Suggest other TV episodes or movies.

Me too but I might watch the less-than-typical Christmas movies like Silent Night, Deadly Night, Black Christmas(es) and the aforementioned Christmas Evil and Die Hard. I'm sure some of TV shows that I watch will have some kind of Christmas themed episode too.

Nothing wrong with watching a Christmas horror movie during Christmas.

Don't forget Tales from the Crypt with that nifty Joan Collins bit. I think the original is better than the TV remake. I'd meant to watch that one in the horror challenge but was watching too much newer stuff.
I'll be passing on the holiday challenge, just checking out what everbody else watches.

That sounds great. The point total is the only thing that scared me away, as I don't even thing I could scrape up 10 movies to watch(I don't have Netflix right now).
I''ll gladly participate.
