Hello all....Does anybody have the new Bose set up (the 3 piece)??

If so,is it any good??..I have always mixed and matched,to create my own sound, but I heard both positive and negative comments about it....For $800 its sounds like a good deal, but Im wondering if it has the full range of sound Im looking for!!..(highs,mids and lows)

Thanks!!

You won't find much love here, or any other home theater forum, for Bose.

No good highs, No good lows........it must be Bose! They are WAY overpriced for what you get. For that same $800 you can do much better. Right now, Amazon.com has the Onkyo HT-S9300THX for $799.99 with free shipping. It will blow the Bose out of the water!

Here is some very good reading........ http://www.firstadopter.com/fa/archives/001749.html

Click on the links and read them too. Especially the one for: http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html

Good luck!

Bose appears to have three different three speaker systems on the market. One is speakers only for $800, and two HTib priced at $1,000 and the other at $ 2,300. As Ed Moxley said Bose are over priced for what you get. In addition I will add that don't confuse the bass module which is a passive unpowerd sub with a powered sub that comes with most other systems.

The $800 speaker system can be connected to another brand of receiver, but you must always have the bass module as part of the system. In addition it has been reported that Bose speakers cannot be used with the various room correction speaker set up software found in most receivers today.

Then HTib receivers are even worse as you can only use the Bose speakers than came with the unit, and the Bose speakers cannot be connected to any other brand of receiver. This means you cannot upgrade either the speakers or the receiver to any different brand. The $1,000 HTib only has connections that you would find on only the cheapest entry level HTib. The $2,300 Htib looks a bit more modern but for that price you could put together a first class receiver and 5.1 speaker system combination.

In a way the Bose systems are worse than "white van speakers", as they offer poor white van quality with out the opportunity of negotiating a low white van price from your local Bose dealer.

Thanks guys!!...Thats pretty much what I thought!!.....Im just starting my upgrade and want to do it right this time!!...I have a pretty limited budget of about $1,000.....Right now Im just mixed and matched with a Sony receiver,AR fronts and Aiwa surrounds and Carver sub....It sounds ok,but I want to be able to make my music sound as good as my movies!!

I like nice, crisp highs as well as deep lows(doesnt have to be any lower than 30Hz)....Like I said,I want my set up to good for both music detail and movies....Any suggestions for a tight budget??

Thanks!!

I've seen Fluance recommended as bargain speakers so how about this 5.0 set? - http://www.fluance.com/fluan5speaks.html

Add a 12" Dayton sub - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-635

Top it off with a quality receiver. I'm partial to Pioneers but others will have their own recommendations.

Use the money you save for some good cables from Monoprice and a Harmony remote.

Normally we recommend that you audition speakers before buying but at your budget it will be difficult to impossible.
